They have not rcsi > ended to the last ndvunca
on this Hide , and the excitement that \viis
noted up \vltliin a week Is not now mani
fest. Tins opening raniro was X@l ° above
Saturday's close , September helling at 0c ; ! ,
December at We and May at ll'J/c. The dlf-
fcrenco between September and December
narrowed to ! < c before the session was far
advanced. Seller December Hold off to OTJ < c ,
but from that price It climbed to U5c and
later to jcyifc. The range of May was J $ ( @

market never showed a weak spot except
when Jotin ICantor ciimo In the pit nnd made
n feint of selling a biK line of long wheat ,
when the price broke J , 'u In two or three
minutes , but It was not long In getting back
to the advance. Llndblom entered a lot of
xvhcat but It was licked up with ti relish.
Corn was moderately active but decidedly
lower and at 1 o'clock October was about ? c
lower than It closed Saturday , seller Novem
ber ytc lower and seller May -Lc lower. The
receipts were 005 cars , and with line weather
nnd over 1,000 cars expected for to-morrow
there was n pretty general pressure to sell
with lltllo ( luMro to buy. There was a grad
ual weakening , October selling fromMJ ©
44ji'c ! to lU.JfcC. It Improved some , but closed
nt about 44c. A good deal of long corn was
thrown on the market and there was a good
deal of short selling as well. Long futures
wcro the weaker , tliu country hcemmg to bo
helling freely. May sold l c lower than the
highest priro touched last week. At the
close the feeling was easy on all futures.
Outs exhibited no Improvement , ruling
easy In sympathy with corn. Hcooipts were
liberal , and while the proportion of contract
grade was small , theru were few buyers ex
cept at a lower range of prices , as the esti
mated receipts for to-morrow aggregate some
400 cars. May was the favorite month , sell
ing weak at J < o lower , with some inquiry for
October at prices slightly below those of last
week , and other months were dull. No. ! 3
oats in store were nearly } c lower , at * 3) ( @

c.In provisions the movement was strongly
bullish , as the monthly stock showing was , if
anything , a little under expectations , and the
prospect for increased receipts of hogs unim
proved. Trade met with unusually general
mipport. Early in the day there was sorno
depression , but it was temporary , and the
range of prices ulljirouml was much higher
than that of Saturday , while closings were
either at outsldo figures or approximately so.

yarding nnd shaping up nnd buyers were also
busy riding around In order to get a good
look at what was on salo. Yet after opera
tions were fully under way there was an
active business nil along the line. Salesmen
from the start figured that values must go
lower , nnd those controlling the largest nnd
best westerns made a straight cut of 15@25o

Money continues easy , with nn increasing
demand from the country and nil wants
readily met. Collections arc fair and it is
expected they will improve as harvest
progresses.
The markets have been fully supplied with
produce and prices have ruled low on fruits
and melons. Sugar is advancing , and as the
demand is usually larger in September than
any other month , tlio "trust" will probably
squeor.o all they can from the trade.
