CHICAGO PUOHUCK MARKET. Cmcuio , July 3 $ . [ Sjieclal Telegram to TIIK Beit. ] For the second time this week wheat advanced 'M In a day. It opened strong and KC higher on bullish cables and ad- vancnd another lK@l ? c , reacting from the extreme range of prices , but closing strong with an Imt > ortant gain ns compared with yesterday. Compared with n week ago the market shows an improvement of 1KC or such n matter , but the advance from bottom prices is nearly 4c. On the great advance to-day there was comparatively little buying by commission houses. The country , by which term is meant general outside specu lative trade , was possessed of a desira to reallzo profits to-day , and n great deal of mis cellaneous selling was of that character. Commission people sold many times more than they bought according to the state ments of a dozen or moro representative concerns. The buying was led by Hcam , Cudahy and Hutchlnson , and the whole "pro fcsslonal" bear clement followed , as near ns could bo ascertained. There was also most excellent buying by foreign houses ; Geddes probably doing moro than any other to-day. St. Louis covered largo lines of short wheat and their covering was , as before stated , very general. There have been ctajs when fluctuations in prices wore within Yfi limitations that more business was done in wheat than to-day , but times huvo been rare when n stronger sentiment had control. August ranged5 > 0 > uiS2Ji'c ( , Septem ber 8133Xc and December SS@34Hc. The close was within ) { u of the top. After n [ strong advance early to S2c in August the I market reacted MO nnd there was another } u revction from bl o but the iccovcry was irrcsistable. A small inciease in the visi ble U anticipated , some putting it as high as 500,000 bushels. The corn market was weak while every thing else boomed. In started off in step with wheat , August going ftom 4f > Xc to 40c , September from 15u to 45JjC and October from 41rt@44VaO to 4'ic , but the pace was too rapid. It bolted and then it turned down , nnd kept on goinjr down , closing prices show ing a decline of J o ns compared with yester day. The tan go was l&lfga. Oats in common with homo other cereals failed to respond to the advance in wheat and ruled heavy and slow with most new crop deliveries exhibiting n fractional de cline. There was only a moderate demand for seller the month which sold down late from 30c to 29 > c , while new crop deliveries were without special Interest , ruling weak through lack of support. Outside order business was unimportant and traders were evidently in something of n waiting mood. INO 2 in store was dull uround24Jfc or nearly the same as seller July while the day's busi ness in cash oats was chiefly by samples. Provision maintained its late record of daily advance. Another upward turn in bogs which continue to come forward spar ingly strengthened the bull stdo and occa sioned a general rise in values. In pork the appreciation established based on yesterday's closings was 15c , in lard 2 ( < ? 5c and in short ribs 5c. _ CHICAGO LIVE STOCK. CHICAGO , July 23. For the week the receipts of Texans nave averaged each day about ono-third of the supply. The qua- ! ity-of Texans was not as good as for the previous week and In common to fair sorts wo have to note a decline of fully 30@40c. The receipts included 1400 Texas cattle. Speca lotion at times was heavy but it showed c lacu of outside business which is essential tc a permanent advance In values. The chiol feature was the decision of Judge Brewer it the Iowa railroad case , temporarily restrain Ing tto railroad commissioners of the state from enforcing their schedule of ratr-s. This decision is regarded by operators as of grcai importance. While the injunction is bu1 temporary it is based on the broad princinli that states have no right to "fix.uureasonabli freight rates , " and if sustained by furthci decisions will effectually check the enforce uiont of what has been known ns 'Jgrangei legislation , " which has been threatening thi prosperity , if not the existence , of many rail way corporations. [ Special Telegram to TUB 13iiE. ] Quito a goud demand for money > rovallcd during the past week but bankers were supplied with ample funds and borrow ers who were able to present undoubted col- atcrals were able to secure all the accommo dation asked for. The movement in cur rency to the interior was comparatively light though the prospect is favorable for some .mprovement as new crops are now begin ning to move nnd In the course of a week or two at least , consignments of grain will bo considerably enlarged. Some speculators in jraln , provisions and stocks wore moderate borrowers , and chicily In the way of money for margins. Souio inquiry was made for loans to pay for property to bo delivered on August contracts and borrowers succeeded in securing sucn accommodations us they desired though the amounts-required were not reported to bo largo. Shippers of grain and provisions were virtually out of the market excepting for moderate amounts on short date paper. Packers are comparative strangers at the banks. Lumber dealers ore moderate borrowers. Merchants in the wholesale mercantile trade have presented some paper for discount , but their wants were not pressing. Hates of interest rather inclined in favor of borrowers , but there was no material change to note in figures. Call loans can Do obtained at 5@5K per cent and time loans are quotable nt SJ@ 7 per cent , depending on amount wanted and the standing of the borrower. In the eastern inoupy market the feeling was stronger with a little better demand for discounts. Interest rates have improved somewhat , rangmg nt 2@2K l'cr ccnt on ClXU nn'l KQU P ° r L'ont on mercantile time paper. Advices from abroad indicate a little more steadiness in that quirter , with rather more demand from vuri ous sources for money. The balance of the English banks has been somewhat reduced while those on thu continent were somewhat enlarged. Now York exchange was in fair supply and the demand was about sufficient to absorb the offerings. Sales were made at 25o dis count to 5Uc premium per $1.1X10 and the market closed at about par to 25c discount. Foreign exchange inclined to quietness. Of ferings were somewhat larger owing to the increased exports of breadstutls while the de mand was only fair. Shippers' nixty days documentary bills on London were decid edly weak and lower , changed hands at X and closed quiet ut t-t.S-Ji.al . . Considerable interest was manifested in the New York stock market nnd quite a good business was transacted. In n general way the feeling was llrm , with more fluctua tions in prices. Wall street operators were the principal traders , through stock brokers abroad were credited wlt'i little moro busi ness than usual. Wester i peculators traded to some extent but gave specialties the most attention. The earnings of the leading rail roads made a fair showing nnd the good de mand for coal and the splendid outlook for crops tended to strengthen the stocks of the properties interested. The parties on the "short" side of the market were a little * moro anxious to purchase and at times there was considerable realizing by "longs. " Trading was quite general for the whole list , but Heading , St. Paul , New York & Now England , Delaware , Lauka- wunna & Western , Union Pacific nnd West ern Union attracted the most attention. The freight war still continues both in the cast and west , and undoubtedly will make an in road in the earnings ot the leading lines dur ing the summer months. The market closed rather strong. The sales on the New York stock exchange during the nast week aggregated - gated 1,203,000 shares. While speculative trading was fairly active during the week , there was no unusual vol ume of business , no very largo offerings and no unuiual demand from any source. The prices for leading cereals ruled with considerable irregularity , though fluc tuations were confined within a compar atively narrow range. The "shorts" were fioe purchasers in some ol the markets and local operators traded to some extent. but managed to keep their lines well evened up. Advices from foreign markets were do- cfdodly favorable to sellers , pwlng to the serious damage reported to crops in that quarter , but thcsq rcnorts appeared to have very little effect on the market or the course of prices here. Regarding crops in this country there is little doubt but that the yield of all kinds ot grain will bo good , winter wheat exccptcd , and that trade will bo very active during the fall months. The receipts of new grain are gradually increas ing. though still somewhat scattering. The arrivals of old grain tor the season ot the year were moderate at all \vc tern markets , while shipments have been liberal , especially fiom lakeorts. ] . The stocks of leading cereals are still decreasing , though the free movement of now grain shortly will no doubt enlarge them again. There has been moro inquiry for flour nnd gram for ex port , especially at the seaboard nnd quite liberal purchases were made public. Provisions have exhibited considerable activity , und prices have averaged higher , duo to light receipts of hogs and a marked in crease in shipments of products on low rates of freight. Packing in the west is progress ing moderately , nnd thu returns now show n decrease of about 100COJ hogs , compared with last season's figures to date. OMAHA MAUKETS. licnther.
