THE BEii.l Wheat had n weak , sick spell
right nt the opening , but for the greater part
of tbo session firmness was the prevailing
feature. The initial range was 79X" for
August , 79J @i9 c for September and SlJ c
for December. Prices got down to 79jfe for
August , though thu official reporter gives
70'i@fO ' 'e the Inside and Sljffc for Decem
ber. Nobody seemed to want wheat at the
beginning. Thu weather was clearing up in
England nnd the continent. The leading
local feature , aside from the Influence excited -
cited by foreign advices , was the support
given on news from the northwest. The
weather throughout thu northwest Is hot nnd
murky and not favorable to wheat , nnd re
ports from that vast district are far less
rosy now than they have been any tlmo for
a month. This induced some excellent buy
ing by strong local parties. Hutchlnson was
perhaps the largest individual trader. The
range of prices for the day was
1@1C and the close was within r.
fraction of the top. The advance in August
was from 79) o to 80c and In December from
8\c \ to 8282Ji'c. Whenever August got
, , below SOU it rebounded , and for the last two
i hours the price fluctuated between bOc nnO
December only reached Jfc from the
top , ana leaves oil &o higher than yestor-
f day. July closed 2 cents over August.
Corn ranged from weak to steady. Phillips
< was the great seller most of the session , but
i thu market was fairly well supported nnd
| closing quotations wore a shade better than
yesterday , The boars went to Helling right
i nnd left , but without breaking the market
morn than \fto. \ Another break in the Erie
canal was a dampmier on fthlpmcntH. TraUo
wns not of extraordinary volume.
Oats wcro duller than on any previous day
of the week , lower prices ruling in nearly all
futures , though lluctuntlons wcro confined
within nnrrow limits There was no special
inquiry for any option , with sellers In the
majority nnd only a moderate demand , which
1 was generally attributed to the
i short Interest. This is not consid
ered important , however , and sellers
July was in light request at nearly steady
i ilgurcs , touching 30c at one time. Now crop
" deliveries were in moro favor than the long
'l ' mouths , with seller August declining about
i J c , and the two following months showing a
J further weakness. In store lots were dull
' nnd quotnblo mound 29o for No. 2 , with
moHt of the cash transactions by sample.
The provision pit was moro than ordinarily
attractive. A sharp and general boom in
values brought into the market n largo num
ber of outsujo traders , and from the start
unusually interesting trade was witnessed.
The failure of hogs to como forward freely
under the recent heavy advance has made
the BhortB I'j products feel very uneasy.
To-day buying against outstanding contracts
was the rule , nnd as buyers found
holders slow to meet their wnuts , a sharp
upward movement followed. Initial sales nil
nround were made nt yesterday's closing
prices to u shade under , und buforo any
reaction occurred pork sustained an apprecia
tion of 42)o ) , lard 15c ntul short ribs lUc.
When the top Ilgurcs were reached , however ,
the nToro urgent buyers withdrew and differ
ent lines of property ruled easier. Later
short ribs and pork recovered to a great ex
tent the ground lost ami closed quite tirm.
Lard refused to follow nnd for the lust hour
or so of the session was the weakest article.
on the list. In thu entire market , however ,
the day's advance was sufficient to make the
bears nervous. In pork it amounted to 87J c ,
in lard to 7 @ 10c , and in short ribs to

TnEBBE.I CATTLE Trade was again slow
and unsatisfactory all around. As to prices
there was llttlo or no change when compared
with yesterday on prime natives or ou the
ordinary ruu of so-called part cornfcd stock ,
but anything at all off style or oft llcsh was
quoted easier , and native common grades
were almost unsalable , unless at ruinously
low prices. Texans , although not lower than
at the close yesterday , wcro slow , wcaic and
unsettled. Up to the hour this report closed
no range cattle had arrived , hence no sales or
quotations. Native butchers' stock , especially
good cows and heifers , have had to follow the

Judge Brewer's ( decision has been full

Rro Just beginning to move. The market
opeued quiet but strong , with most of the
activity confined to u few stocks , among
which St. Paul , Heading , Lackawunna ,
Union Pnclfia und Louisville & Nashville
wore most prominent. In curly tradings a
drooping tendency was developed in several
stocks , which gradually extended to the en
tire list. St. Paul und Wheeling und Lake
Erie preferred each declined % per cent , but
losses in the rest of the list were of slight
fractions only. Tuoro was some recovery
nbout 11 o'clock , but no perceptible increase
in business , and up to noon only 09,8JO shares
had changed hands. Loudon came In strong
and arbitrage houses traded liberally in
Reading , Louisville Si Nashville and Erio.
Stocks were moro plentiful in the loan
crowd , but rates showed no change. Outside
of the Brewer decision , there was llttlo in
the market to gossip about , and after mid
day a dullness prevailed. The market after
mldduy showed plainly that operators who
had profits were taking them , und more
Blocks came out than buyers were disposed
to take readily. Reading was void heuvllj
for Philadelphia. Insiders are not disposing
of their stocks , but It U snld to bo the small
holders who have recently received thoii

general weakening of the entire list , except

much better yesterday that his friends
think tnat if ono moro comfortable night la
passed he will surely recover.
Our chtirming country women uro not
only acknowloged to bo nraontf the love
liest of their sex but capital cooks. They
declare unanimously that Van Duzor'a
Flavoring Extracts uro the only ones
that impart to pies , puddings , cakes ,
etc. , the genuine llavor. Why ? Because
they are made from the linost fruit ,
without any doubtful aid from cheap
and hurtful chemical : ) used to biinulnto
the real trade. Grocers everywhere
sell these extracts.
