August sold oft from SOX to ftijfc , iinii December from & % to Rjjjjc. The local sentiment was not clearly defined , and the crowd was In ti mood to bo easily Influ enced In eithnr direction within narrow lim its. Therefore when New York begun to Bend Its bullish pointers the temper changed mid tin Immediate Improvement , was notod. Wheat udvanced J-f'1 , and although the gain wan not fully maintained , the market was held steady to the end of the Boislon. Tliero is more or loss skepticism felt on the subject of export buying in Now York. Da.v after day for the better part of a week reports of from ten to thirty five boat loads "being taken for export" have been received , but clearances do not show Unit the train has gone out of the country. Advices to-day from the most reliable sources confirm the statements of business for export account , however , and additional Informa tion in advanced that exporters and millers , after practically exhausting their stocks in New York , are reaching out for the wheat in Bight on the lakes and the canal , besides making purchases of largo lines in Dnlutli. The promise is held out that next week's clearances will show an actual movement of a largo portion of New York wheat bought for export. New York was the source of the most of bull news to-day. Even the chronic bears of Gotham were inclined to bo bullish on the situation at tidewater , lliiltimoru conti United an item to the effect that 11 boatloads loadss8,00) ) bushels weru being loaded for Immediate shipment. Towards the clo. o of the session it was reported on the lluor that AVerst hud telegraphed a sensational damage bulletin from the northwest , but this proved to bo untrue , lie is keening his principals advised but his bulletins have been very con servative thus far. They speak of good pros pects and poor with photographic impar tiality. The receipts of now wheat at St. Louis and Haltimoro arcs getting heavier , but Toledo is as yet receiving very little not , half as much as Kansas City. Tliero was Bomo selling this morning early , and later cables brought a general cancellation of Belling orders. As on yesterday the market was the weakest near the beginning and stronger the last half of the session. An in crease in the visible supply is looked for. A fair business was done in .Inly wheat at a premium of 2Jf ( gllo over August. The differ ence nt the close was an oven ! ! c. Corn opened nt © ' 'H" ' up and initial prices were the best of the Mission. August started off atIS'sc ' , September at 4TJfc and October at - " ! fcc. The demand from the shorts was less urgent. Indeed it seems to have been pretty well satisfied , leaving the market without special speculative support. Prices moved down fully Ic , being aided in the de scent by renewed short soiling on a liberal scale. A ugnt.t stopped at 47c , September at 47Xc , and October ntHi'jji : . Kor the last hour or so a bolter spirit pn-vatled and the market rallied ? H&lie , closing midway be tween the two extremes. Lake engagements were reported for : ! 0i,0l : ( ) bushels ami esti mated receipts for to-morrow are u little under 'JX ( ) cars. Statisticians arc IK'uring on a decrease of IfiO.UOt ) to 100OOt.OJ ) ( bushels in the visible. Oats ruled quiet most of the session and nearly steady , with prices oscillating about Jife either way , and only moderate interest shown. The most activity was in July , which was taken liberally at ! ) } < ( , or } o below yes terday's close and was believed to bo long buying , us it is thought the short interest is now small. Speculation In now crop deliver ies is light , with operators evidently in a waiting mood. August sold around 'J. . } ST > X ( ! , with September nt } fc discount , and May nuietat'JSc. Cash oats were slow with No. 2 in store quotable at fttljfc and ottered at that , and trading mostly by samples. The provision trade again averaged consid erably higher. Under the Inlluoneo of a light run of liogs and another sharp advance in the same , the entire market opened with tiomethiiig of a boom. Early sales of pork were made at tin appreciation of n4@ } le over yesterday's closings , of lard at an im provement of 1'JXc , und of short ribs at nn advance of lO@l'J' ' o. These Advances , how ever , acted as an incentive to late buyers of the product to reali/o , and under free selling , particularly of pork , by Ilntchinson , mi easier feeling was developed. In pork prices receded IfKJjCOe , for lar * fiiJ7Vtfe , and for short ribs 3)ijjjr ( > u. 1'ork and short ribs sub sequently gained a llttlo of the ground lost , but for lard the market ruled comparatively heavy In the absence of a support from English houses. Still , the whole line closed nt a material improvement on .yesterday's final prices. The dav's actual advance in jiork was 7X@llc ) , in bhort ribs IDQl'-J c and In lard 5@7)o. CIUCAUO IjlVK STOCK.
