To-day's receipts of cattle consisted ol

Strictly prime corn-fed steers were nol
plenty among the offerings. The market was
very dull and dragging nil day , nnd the buy.
crs generally were bidding lower prices in
the early part of the day. About the middle
of the afternoon trading became more brisli
and over 700 head of cattle changed hands
before the close. Tno general market wa
about steady with yesterday nnd closed with
the feeling , if anything , little stronger.
The fresh receipts to-day were eighty-sis
loads , besides twelve stale loads , making the
largest number on sale this week or for some
\yceks back. The market opsned with onlj
sixty-eight loads in sight. The general qua !
Ity of the hogs was much better than yesler-
day nnd about like Wednesday's offerings ,
The market was fairly active at a decline ol
5c on the best grades of heavy and hcavj
mixed , while the moro common light am :
mixed loads sttd C@10c lower , the lightci
nnd moro common the hogs the heavier the
decline. Everything in was disposed ol
before midday but some of the later arrivals
which did not put in nn appearance unti
after the market closed remained unsold
