OMAHA IJVK STOCK.
General.
USMOX STOCK YAIIDS , Op. m. 1
Wednesday , Feb. 29 , IbbS. (
Comparing the receipts of the first two days
of this week with the same- time last week , r
gain of UOO will be noticed in cattla and a loss
of 1,800 In hogs. As u matter of fact the de
crease in the receipts of hogs is duo to tin
tie-up on the 13 , & M. lines.
Cattle.
There was a falling off in the receipts o
cattle to-day as compared with yesterday
The general quality of the offerings was no
ns good and there were no top loads to b <
compared with those of yesterday. Th <
market opened fairly active in the morning
but the early trading was limited , for tin
most part to butchers' stock , which was ii
good demand at about steady prices. Ure
cattle sold about lOo lower but were lairli
active at the decline. The greater part o :
the cattle changed hands before the close.
Hog * .
The hog market was lightly supplied to-da :
there being only twenty-seven frestj loads or
sale. The offering wero- * mostly of rather In
different quality , although there were a fey
fair loads of their weight. There was noth
ing in the way of choice heavy hogs
The market was very brisk to open , from tlu
fact that the receipts were so light that then
were not enough to go around. A few of thi
first sales were made at about steady prices
after which the market dropped off 5@10c
The receipts came in the same as yesterday
a few cars at a time , and Upmarket did no
close until afternoon. The V&rket closed ii
most cases lOo lower.
Sheep.
There were four fresh loads hero but thcr
was nothing doing on the market.

Justice Wells had no'pollce work yesterday ,
nit he is making up for lost time on the civil
1st. James Curling sold a bill of goods to
one Butcher , nnd thinking ho was about to
eave the state , procured a writ of attach-
nent. Parish & Finlayson want a comrnis-
iion on real estate sold for.TamcH Torbin , and
Elliott & Tele are looking after Captain
Cockcrell for the same thing. Justice Wells
vill see them all out this week , but has
granted continuances in the meantime.
South Omaha plasterers formed a union
ast night , and Jack Finan , assisted by Jas.
Fitzgerald. Al Donnelly , Ernest Shotty nnd
I. W. Mclllhaney , of the Omaha union , per-
1oruied the necessary ceremonies. After
hey left , Billy Johnston was elected presi
dent , Elmer Meek secretary , und Charles
jyman treasurer of the organization , and as
ho boss plasterers seem to bo iu accord with
t , there is every prospect of it proving a suc
cess. Some twenty one plasterers signed the
roll.
