Complaints nrc still heard concerning the action of the Inspectors In regard to dockage on hog . As thu In n very Important feature on the market all care should be exercised. Mr. Bone , of thu firm of Scott & Hone , of Tenon , marketed hogs. The salesman who llsposod of the porkers informed the HKF. nan that this was Mr , Heine's first trip , 'itnd , " said he , G'noa ' he will come again ! The reporter fled. The market reporter In an afternoon paper who quoted the hog market to-day as strucly and the receipts nil sold early must have left ho yard * about 0:30 : lu the morning. His sale of 64 Ull-lb hogs at W.80 was an extra ordinary * nlc to nay the least. The Stockman of last evening contains the 'ollowhif pertinent suggestions to shippers n Iowa and Nebraska which they would do veil to paste In their huts : "In order to fully appreciate the prices which hogs have been bringing here It Is necessary to compare this market with others. For at least u month Buck this market has averaged higher than Kansas City , which can bo seen not only from the market reports of the two places , but which Is proved beyond dispute by the cost of the hogs bought by the packers who have buyers on both markets. This difference has run all the way from 'Jo up to 12c. For ex ample , Armour's hogs bought on this market yesterday averaged precisely the same , in weight , as the drove bought In Kansas City , und the average cost was 'J.'jC ' more for the hogs bought here. No one In Nebraska City , ut least , can nfTord to go to Kansas City with hops even If it is more convenient. As a matter of fact Kan sas City Is the older market and a number of shippers of southern Nebraska have been shipping there for so long a time that they ii-o prejudiced in favor nt it , but it does not look right for anyone to allow a mere whim to carry them away from what Is their best market. The same thing Is true of the ship pers of western Iowa , who have always been ifolnp to Chicago with stock , but who are -rradtmlly changing their shipments over to this market. When hogs are selling hero within Hc ) of the top price in Chicago , it is Tolly for u shipper of western lown to think that he can make us much by shipping Lo the latter pli.ixNot only are hogs selling lierc within lOo of Chicago , but what is more the hogs here arc sold as mixed , which is another advantage. Chief of Police Seavey's resolution to en force the sidewalk ordinance has created an intense hubbub , and the chief Is in receipt of numerous letters congratulatory , condem natory and otherwise. Nevertheless bo will not swerve from his intentions , and every sign , post , or whatnot that in anywise tends to obstruct the sidewalks must go. Yesterday morning the Rock Island railroad company were notified to remove their showy and mag nificent signs and the chief says Raymond's clock and other such signs must come down too. A Sad But Winer Roy. of John B. Webster The eight-year-old son , a farmer living about two miles west of this city , tied a bunch of fire crackers to a small dog yesterday and set tire to them. The frightened animal ran under the horse barn ana shortly afterwards the building was dis covered to bo in flumes. Thcro was but ono horse in the stable and ho was rescued , but the stnicture was reduced to ashes. It is safe to say that there is ono boy lu Nebraska who will never again repeat the above de scribed performance. -THE- OF TUB Chicago , Milwaukee & St , Paul R'y , The Dost Route from Omaha and Council Bliifft to - = = THE EAST = = - TWO TIUI.NH DAILY I1KTWKEN OMAHA AND COUNCIL 11LUWS Chicago , AMI- Milwaukee , St. 1'aul , Minneapolis , Cedar Rapids , Rack Island , Frceport , Rockford , Clinton , Dubuque , Datenport , Klgin , Madison , Jauesvllle , Rcloil , Winona , La C rosso , Ami all other Important point i Kant , .Northeast and V'ortlirnuuli tkkots oull on llio tlikct nucnt at 1M1 KiirimmitrtTt.lii lliuker lliock , or ill Union I'uUrlc IXMHit , IMIIinan Sleeper * anil tlio llnctt Dliilnc t'urf In UK worhl nre run on the main line of lliul'lildiiio , Mil wHiiki-u A M.
