L. May , It. H. Livingston , B. E. B. Kou- nody nnd Superintendent O'Brien. ' The first three conBtituto the Htnto llsh commission ttnd have from very little in ado ono of the moat valuable Ktuto In- Hlitutions In Nobnifskit , giving their time nnd attention to the industry with out HJilitry or hope of rowm-d. " The re port , amour ; other things , stales Unit the work in thin branch of the public Horvico has been prosecuted during the year just closed with undlminishod en ergy and with good results far in excess of that In any proceeding year. The extent of territory covered and the sup ply of young iluh planted have been more than doubled and although the work of distribution has been conducted with great inconveniences and hir/urd liy lack of proper facilities in transport ing young llsh to remote parts of the Htato , tbo per cent of Ions is less than the pro-coding year. The report re news the rccomendation that the hatch- cry bo supplied with a cnr especially lilted for translating flsh. Tbo report hhowrt that the number of people engaged - gaged in fish culture is constantly in creasing , and the board attribute much . of this awakening to the importance of fish culture to the annual display made by the commission at the state fair. The financial exhibit , made is excellent , Hhowing that out of the $12,500 nppro- > riatod by the legislature but $4XI0.85 ( } iaa boon expended in the year just closed. The report of the superintend ent of the work performed during the vcar shows that the brooding ponds have been increased in numbers and that now stone dams , in a number of instances , have supplanted the old wooden dams of former years. There nro now thirteen separate and distinct ixmds at the hatchery. The superin tendent reports a supply of 120,000 stock fish , principally brook trout , mountain trout , Gorman carp and black bass. The report shows facilities in operation- hutching annually , 25,000,000 wall eyed pike. 600,000 brook trout and 600- < KM ) mountain trout. The supply of pike eggs is obtained annually from the St. Clitiro river and Stiginaw buy at a less cost than stock fish can bo kept to produce them. The carp and bans ponds are suITlcient to answer all present demands. At the hatchery at the present time there are 1,000,000 fresh water herring eggs and 2,000,000 , lake white fish eggs in process of incu bation. The recommendation is made , nnd strongly" urged , that the commis sion arrange for the cultivation of yel low porch and common pickerel. The Buporintundont reports 25,000,000 pike eggs , 145,0X ( ) brook trout eggs and 2,000 mountain trout eggs hatched and dis tributed during the year. The detailed report of ilsh distributed gives tbo individual person and resi dence of nil who have been supplied. Tlio summary shows that llsh have been Hupplicd to ilfty-nino counties and S80 different persons in those ditl'oront roiinties. Tbo carp have largely been planted in southern and eastern Ne braska , the trout in lakes and rivers in the north western part of the state and the pike and bass very generally dis tributed. The report closes with elaborate and enthusiastic ' letters Trom prominent parties In differ ent parts of the state who have boon in terested in the planting of lish and who have seen for thojnsolves the good re- Bults. These letters , many of them , are almost incredible in their recitals of catches made after streams have been Blocked a few years. OFF FOR DKS 3IOINEH. B Yesterday was the second day of _ the : State poultry and pot stock association nnd the entries began to pour in thick nnd fast. At noon there wore some eighty coops of fowls at the Metropolitan rink and the chorus of crowing cock- orolls was unending , making music enough to gladden the hearts of poultry lovers. The exhibit up to noon yester day had assumed greater proportions than the exhibit of birds at the state fair , nnd the specimens were beauties. In fact it is a very creditable showing for the state and one that has to be seen to bo appreciated. The pot stock de partment is evidently not receiving unicli attention , but the feature is en tirely ne\Y for exhibits of this charactot in the stale mid w'Jl grow with the as' boeiaUon.
