This time the vio- \1 tim is J. T. Oliver , merchant tailor. About f six weeks ago a man calling himself Mr. Hall , and claiming to bo a traveling man for , , , a hardware linn , entered Mr , Oliver's liroad- { * way establishment and ordered a light over- * coat. It was mudo for him , and when ho ' called for It ho paid the cash , at the same time ordering a heavy overcoat and a pair of pantaloons , A few days ago hu entered the store and wanted the goods. Ho had $35 , and promised to pay the balance the first of the month. Mr. Oliver put the clothes back in the case , and said that ho would wait for the money. After the man had gene the pro- prictor turned to his cutter , and expressed his opinion that the fellow was a confidence man , and that the clothes must not bo turned over to him unless cash was paid for them. The man called again Tuesday evening in the absence of Mr. Oliver , and asked the cutter to accompany him to his room , and ho would pay the money. The game worked well , and When at the foot of tno stairs ut the Alain street entraco of the 13cno block the fellow said "Walt until I go up to my office and get my keys. " The duped cutter waited , and soon heard his man going down the Pearl street stairway. It then dawned upon him that ho was tricked , and ho Informed the police , but the clothes wore gene , and the man is still after his keys. It makes Mr. Oliver very tired to think that his cutter should bo bcateu after receiving special in structions. . Troxol Bros , headquarters for Christ mas poultry. Leave your orders.
