Cmvtoo , Nov. 17. | Kuviiil | Toli'irram to Uio UIK. : ] After a llvo iliiys' ' continuous advance In wheat prices amounting to 'JJ.JQ5 2 c , most of the piofi'ssionul tiiulcis suemi'tl * to think tlisit ut last u temporary "top" liutl IIOOM reached if not u permanent otic. Tlicy were ilhiippointcil. Neither were the hopes of enthusiastic bulls altogether realized. Thu resnlt of the iluy'H trailing wus to ] it prices still higher , but thorn were periods of con siderable depression and the volume of busi ness , although still qulto luoje , apje.ired to be rather less than yesterday. Tlio opening wiiH.riKht up to the advance established oy yesterday afternoon's shot t session at T.'i o for December , 7i > tV for January undblc for May. There appeared to be a strong ills- ponltlon to rcaliio prollts on unim bought at lower prices and under this fru-cselling priccn /ell to 7. > Jii' , firr December , ; iio for January and 81V"3'- ' for May. It was a temporary weakness , however , and on the uptuin which followed December touched 7li' ' ( , ( ' , January 7iJJ < c and May KJJie. Hero iigaln the market became top-heavy and dropped quite steadily to nearly the opening figure , December again touching Tfi' o , January reaching Tlic < TO'o ' ( nml May blJ4c. The weakest point on this drop was at about noon. Half an hour later bu.vers were numerous enough to absorb all offerings and send prices up steadily to the. close , which was strong at Tii c for December , 7i4c ( nominally lor January and .vybc for May. The corn market appeared to bo In rather nn over-fed condition this morning , and il , as there are plenty of people to believe , It is poinga long way higher up , it certainly halted to-day to digest the advance already gained. The volume- business was not so largo as yesterday and the m.irket was bcnsitno enough to show wide iluctuations under the Inlluenci ) of preponderance of buying and selling orders. The opening was att.lUc lor December > % c for January and -tfl' c for May. Under reali/mg sales of long corn prices fell during the early trading toiri' ' e lor December , I.Vjii ( 45 ,0 for January and 40c for May. There wus a icnction tot.Vs'o for December , 4c ( ! for January and 4\c \ ) for May. Then began the rush to sell There was Bald to be unlimited amounts of May corn for nalo at f > 0f , and wheji the price came so near this selling 11 guru there were enough who nnaded it a little to start prices on tin * down grade again and 4 hey dropped steadily until Deceirdier touched-II8 < i'i January 44c and May 4s < jaH'fe. ( ' During the last half hour there was a rally and the close was at toe for December , iriUM.V.c ' for January uml4iki ! ( ! 4 'jfoforMay. The oats market had considerable attrac tion for traders to-day and while speculation was again confined almost exclusively to the May Juture , it is huge in that. Prices , too , showed u further improvement , cash and No vember closing nominally ' ' „ < higher than yesterday at UT'ne. For December ami Jan uary 'J7c was the nominal closing , a few trades being made in December early at UOJjC. AIny opened at "UJ e , sold at a'range of aOfyfiHlV and then back to ! > Xc at the 1 o'clock close. On the bulge Heam was a heavy buyer all the way up and these pur chases stiffened the market perceptibly in the face of the weaker tone developed in corn. The provision trade was again the center of more than ordinary interest. The feeling was perhaps more nervous than on any of the previous days of the week and the boom ex perienced at yesterday's afternoon session was supplanted by an easier movement. Still , considering the reali/ing by small holders on recent profitable purchases and the break witnessed In corn , the market commanded u peed support. Prices ruled with seine ir regularity , but under the circumstances the Iluctuations covered only n moderate range nnd tllo decline actually suffered was com paratively limited.
