[ Special Telegram to tha UKK. ] The result of to-day's trading In wheat was to Icnvo prices Just where they were left yesterday. The fluctuations were not large , neither wns the amount of busi ness , and news wns neither exciting nor of great influence. Shortly after thu opening there appeared to foe some selling by parties who were believed to have bought a long line and wcro expected to stand on it for a good advance , and there was an Immediate jumping to the conclusion that all this wheat was to bo Bold. The conclusion was also reached by the bears that such a proceeding would go far towards "knocking out the bottom tom , " and they naturally turned in to help , with the result of breaking thu price about J c , but that was as far as It would go. The opening was at last night's closing figures 7Ac for December and TOJ c for May. After advancing ' < Immediately after the opening prices fell under the influences above men tioned to 7l > c for May and 73 , ' c for Decem ber. There was found to bo plenty of buying orders for May at "Do and at Unit price Koine of the strongest houses bought considerable grain , not bidding the price up , but taking It HH it was offered. It was ulso discovered that the avalanche of wheat which was expected did not como and the market began to show signs of strength. There was un advance to TllJ e for December and 79J @ TSJJ/c for May , but the first named delivery lost > e bcforo the elose , and there were not many trades lit thu outside figures. The close was steady at 7yj1uC for December and 79J < @ 7li'o ) ! for May. Fluctuations in the corn market wcro very small and the change for the day was unim portant , November losing and May gaining a fraction , while December delivery closed at exactly the same figure as yesterday. There was u fair volume of business done and thu market appeared firm , with light receipts re- KK > nslblo for such feeling. Hutchlnson , who bought largely for November deli very yester day , was a seller of the same month to-day. That delivery , which opened at 42c , sold down to H4\Xc \ at one time , but closed at 41J @ 42c. December opened at 41J c , sold down to /41\'c and imck to 41&c , where it closed. May opened at 45 > l@45&c , sold down to 45@45 > jfc , tip to 45'B'ii41 ( > iiO und closed at 45W < S45 ? < fc. Oats were quiet almost to dullness In the speculative market and the limited business passing , as on thu day bcforo , was confined largely to the May option. There were very few corn-fed steers in and there was only ono load that could be called prime. A very large proportion of the cnttlo were rangers. The market continues about steady and Is devoid of any especially new features. Good corn-fed natives arc holding their own in the market , but butcher stock nnd feeders arc going at low prices. lIORfl. The receipts of hogs wcro heavier to-day than for some time back , the fresh receipts being forty-eight cars , or a gain of twelve cars over yesterday.
