dent of the hoard auctioned a 00,000 bushel

proceeding and ono which set the tongues of
members going at a good gait In condemna
tion of what they characterized n piece of
Bcnsiitlonalism , though Mr. Wright claims
that he was only doing what ho has alwa > s
done previously under the same conditions.

but It was Bcl/ed by the bears as n pretext
for hamstringing the maiket. The market
was nervous and excited and rather a larger
amount of business was demo than on any
of the three days last receding. The market
was weak , a combination of circumstances
conspiring to bilng about n con
dition of affairs unUvorablo to
Improved prices. The failure of
outside correspondents to respond to
margin calls brought out a largo amount of
property held by commission merchants lor
customers on exhausted margins. The ad
vertised abandonment of the New York
corner In Juno wheat , and the Sc bmak In
the price of Juno wheat In the market ,
dragged down speculative values everywhere.
There were no Uritlsh markets to-day , and
in these tunes no news from abtoad Is In-
tcrpieted as b.ul news. The Fidelity bank
fiilluro was another bearish feature In the
wheat nit to-day. July heat sold from 7JJf c
down to 711tc , September Irom 74Js0 'iU
high to Wjte low , and December from 7'Jo ' to
77xc. Dining the lust hour theto was con
siderable recovery Irom inside prices , and
the 1 o'clock quotations weroC'J/fc for July ,

August , were gencinlly excessive , and lor

touched the lowest point so fur quoted on the

last week on nlco and handy steers , but any
thing nt all undesirable was quoted lower

butchers' stock , especially old cows. Is mak
ing about as low prices as for a year past.

Cattle.
The receipts ot entitle were liberal to-day.
The market was about steady on the common
grades , but good , handy fat medium weight
native steers were SQlOc better than yester
day. The demand was better and the buyers
were more ready to bid than yesterday.
$4.oO was bid on ono bunch of cattle that
were not sold , but shipped on.
The run of hogs was very fair , and In ad
dition to the frebh receipts , there were nine-
loads of stale hois , making about 5,500 hoc nos :
altogether on the market. The market was

Liglit hogs opened at about steady pi ripn ' 111(1
were In the best request. All th 10 cholco
light lioirs were soon taken. Mixed loads
moved oft moro readily the greater the pro

lOc. Heavy mixed and heavy hogs were
slow and fully 10a lower. The market was
prolonged until late In the day nnd closed
with several loads left over.
