Siipteinber sold oil to blji'c. and closed at bl c. July held Its own , but remote futures lo.it j MMc. Trad- liiit was fairly liberal In all deliveries , but specially active In July. It became voiced about that Cincinnati parties bad sent In a sustalnim ; L',000,000 bushel order at W c. The market touched that point several tlnie.s , but bobbed rl 'ht up ak'alu and the bulk ot tradlni : was between WKCi Jf'- ' . Tailors and scalpers linaidno thuy detect evidences of clupio disposition to "carry the deal" through July , but their operations on this theoiy are .some what restricted. Tim liuxcness of the local stocks terrifies them nnd they are rather tils- posed to hold bearish vlows mitt to theori'/o that the deal cannot no on forever. The government crop report was less favorable than anticipated , but the item of Incii'ascd acreage is held to about offset the diminished average quality. Corn appeared to bo depressed mainly by largo ollenngs by the July lonis. ; That option , at any rate , showed the greatest weakness. The fcolhiK In corn was heavy all throuuh the loni : session. The best prices of the dny prevailed at the opening anil the 1 o'clock quotations wuro within "split" of the bottom. New York was a fair buyer hero of August and .September. Hummed up , speculative trading was qulto laruo , nnd nsldn from the decline , which amounted to W@c , there was very little now or of In terest Sellers July opened nt iiU ii'J o , sold steadily down to Ihjfc nnd closed at MK&MXn , with J une quoted nt MXc. ( There was in creased business to-day in new crop options. In the provision pit the day wns slow ns well ns a tame one. Short ribs received .some nttcntton In a speculative way , and In future lard there was nlso n moderate move ment , but pork was practically stagnant on speculative and cash account. Trading nil told was spasmodic , timid and under the av erage showing and barring the stronv under tone the market was devoid of special feat ure. in the nbsonco of any urgent dcslro to bell , and aUo In consequence of the good prices which ho s commanded In the face of the largo receipts , holders were lirm In their views , and lor laid nnd short ribs the only lines noticed prices averaged high. The market on fat cattle closed dull and weak. Tezans were scarce and sold substantially stronger. The scarcity of Texans , however , did not seem to help native butchers' stock , the same selling as low as at nny time for common cows and common bulls. John Bowles , who has been with Keenan A Hancock in Chicaeo for the past six years , has arrived here , where ho will bo with the same firm. It is very gratifying to the friends of the South Omaha live stock market to see the name of P. D. Armour A Co. entered oppo site hog sales on the yard books. Mr. Mclntosh , of the lirm of Mclntosh A Sutton , old shippers to this market , was hern and sold a load of cattlu anil a load of hoes. Twenty cuttle averaged 1102 and brought 94.00. J. L. Ritter , of the well-known live stock lirm of Morse , liogers & Co. , North Bend , was at the yards and marketed a load ot hogs. Sixty-eight hogs averaged 250 Ibs and brought 84.60. The Chicago packers who have no packing houses located at this point cau not resist the temptation to send their buyers here for some of Nebraska's hogs , which are so much liner than the bulk of the receipts at Chicago. If hogs are brlneing all they are worth In Omaha , aud as much accordingly as the same would bring in Chicago , why do the Chicago packers soud buyers hero ? The answer Is simple : At this season of the year , the hogs received In Chicago from Illinois and sur rounding states have been turned out to pasture , and although weighing the same , the moat lacks the solidity of the corn-ted Nebraska article. Thegrass-fcd meat shrinks a ereat deal more , and there it far less protil in it to the packer. For this reason Chlcagc packers can well afford to como here and pay even more for the Nebraska hogs than they would pay for hogs ot the saute weight in Chicago.
