tone was again witnessed. Traders have ap
parently readied the conclusion that the
available supplies at interior points have
been at last reduced to such a point as to
allow Chicago to direct to homo extent the
trade , and with the large stocks here either
well eonccnliated or In strong hands , the
Bido" promising better prices on Improved
Imtincss is evidently crowing In favor. Yes
terday's reaction and Improvement were con
tinued to-day witli Increased vigor , and from
the start the maiKct seemed to bo able to
command encouraging support. In the active
lines lard and snort ribs the movement
was also sharply upward , and based on last
night's closings lard t 1 o'clock showed an
auvanco of 7X@l ° c and short ribs of 15@'JOc.
For both of these- articles Inside prices prevailed -
vailed at the opening and the highest at or
near the adjournment , Trading was quite
lair , with July , August and September the
loading deliveries. 1'ork was quoted at

2 per cent. The whole market closed very
weak at about the lowest point of the day.

market was active and everything was soli
before the close. There was the best deman <

steers. Native steers sold much rnoro readll ;
than western.
The run ot hogs was about the same as ye. "
tarday. The market opened with all the buy
era on the crouml , and while a few of th
tlret sales were mndo at an advance of 6c , tin
market very quickly advanced lOc , The bid
ding was very sharp between the buyers am
the hogs were all sold out early. The de
mand of thu local packing houses Is sutllolon
to take all the liozs that are coming In , uni
add to that the requirements of th Bostoi
nnd Chicago houses that have buyers her
and there must ot necessity be a very spirit *
market.

.eaves for Kansas City to-day , whore he has
accepted a position with a commission lirm ,
Mr. Self , of the linn ot Self & Keith , Brock ,
was at the yards with a load of cattlo. They
have been splitting their shipments of hogs ,
sending one to Kansas City and the other to
Omaha the same day. The Omaha shipments
have netted more than the Kansas City in
every Instance but OUR , and as a rule the
Omaha shipments bavo netted 330 to 840 par
car more.
