The entertainment will consist of songs , solos and instrumental music , recitations and readings. Supper and Ice cream will bo served from U till 10 p. m. The outlook for that $200,000 hotel Becms very encouraging , and the needed amount will soon bo secured. It simply remains for the citizens to answer the question whether they want such a hotel or not. A goodly number are saying "yes , " and backing the "yes" with their money. Rev. T. J. Mackay yesterday married Horace J. Evans and Miss Nelly E. Chap man , at the bride's residence , corner of Sixth street and First avenue m the pres ence of only the immediate relatives of the contracting parties. The newly wedded couple have gone on a short eastern bridal tour. Some unknown traveler in passing nlong Vaughan avenue was annoyed by a dog belonging to Mr. Holder , and shot the animal with his revolver. The dog is said to have been a valuable one and was not doing any harm when killed. Per haps in this case the shooter did wrong , but there are many dogs to spare. The otlicors had n lively struggle to bring iiim in , and Otllcer Dyer was kicked by him in the kueo , causing the ollicer to go into the repair shop. The fellow was linally loaded onto a wagon , and thus brought in. in.The The policemen's ball this evening promises to bo largely attended. A merry time is promised all who attend , but those who cannot go should bo sure and buy a ticket. The ollicers have but one benefit a year , and this should bo a rouscr. They will perform their duties the better i ! thus practically assured that the citizens appreciate the fact that their duties are heavier than their pay. Matters are quieting down in the lire department , and the little ditleronco bo twedn the chief and ouo of his men wil probably be adjusted without any suet investigation us was threatened when tin blood was hot. The department has moved along with wonderful harmony and this little ripple will soon bo for gotten. The only question involvet seemed to bo whether the chief has tlu right to lay off a man. and this questiot Booms clearly in the chief's favor. The matter of u largo fountain in Bay liss park is being again agitated. Tin park commissioners are said to bo williiu to spend f 1,000 for that purpose , but thi : is only about one-fourth of the umoun needed to put in such a fountain us tin park ought to havo. There are numer ous citizens who are willong to contnb ute for the purpose of procuring n suit able fountain , and with the addition o what the commissioners can spare fron the park fund it is believed that thor iiQcd bo no longer delay in securing this Vavliss park , right in the heart of th city , is ono of the most beautiful park possessed by any city. The ollicers are to bo elected Friday night , and every ono should bo present to indi cate his choice , as much depends on a wise choice of men to take charge of the entcrpiiuu. The committee on loe.ition is to report in regard to what rooms or buildings c.in be secured , and this is like wise an important question to decide. The committee on membership will also have an interesting report. It is believed that by Friday niglittheiu will bo fully SJUO names secured. Kveryono who pur poses joining the organisation should be prcsci.t if Dosstble at this meeting , in order that the permanent organi/ation may bo the outgrowth of the combined best judgment of all and that the club may start out on its career with assur ances of a grand success. The oigaui/.ation will prove not only an enjoyable one in its social features , but its aim is to help all public interests. A Tumble Ou the I'ni-k Turf. Last evening William Dane , the ISay- liss park policeman , was subjected to homo annoyances , and charged Frank Shoemaker , a youngman who chanced to be in the park , with being one of the oll'enders. Ho insisted on young Shoe maker telling him who the others were , and the latter refusing to give an information mation , threatened to ariest him. This naturally excited Shoemaker's ire , and words followed. The park policeman caught hold of him , and the young man resisted. In the scrimmage the police man was bitten as well as bruised. He called out for another young man to go after another policeman to help him , and as the messenger started oil' the park policeman threatened him if ho diil not hurry up. The threat maddened the otherwise willing messen ger and he concluded that the park policeman could go himself to police headquarters , or even a nearer police. It was sometime before the light was ended. Then the park policeman lodged complaints against young Shoemaker charging him witii assault , with mayhem , and with resisting an ollieer. The young man went free ou his own recognisance , to appear to-day. J. G. Tipton has good houses to rent. * Arbor Day. Yesterday was Arbor tree day , or was supposed to be , but there were no indica tions of,1(10 ( fact hero. The schools went nlong with their regular exercises , the routine duties occupying the time and at tention. The reasons for not observing the day are numerous. One is that Coun cil Bluff's is so far ahead of DCS Moincs and other places , where the day was ob served , that such cities will have to pass a good many Arbor days in planting trees before they catch up. There is little tlo need of more trees here. The school grounds nro well favored in this respect. There have been n good many trees planted here by the less sentimental way of hiring men to do the work. Another reason is that in view of the interrup tions caused to many pupils by measles and other diseases , it was deemed bettor to improve the day in study and work. Taken altogether Council Bluffs will be found fully abreast of those cities which observed the day in the prescribed man lier. ELECTRICITY ! DR , RICHARD'S ' Electric Bath Rooms and Office No. 607 Mynster St. , Council Bluffs. One Square North of the P. O. Building. Treatment and Baths Given Ladies by Mrs , Dr , Richards on Tuesday , Thursday & Saturday , Electricity is a remarkable natural agent which lias long been known and utilized as a remedy for disease , and continued experience has enlarged its sphere of useful ness anil improved its appliances by which it is cniplojccl until its utility anil virtue has become second to no other known remedy , in the treatment of certain forms of disease. This agent is employed here in all its most serviceable forms by the aid of large batteries , static machines , electric cabinet baths , electric \\atcr baths , the elcc- tiic chair and electrodes for treating all parts of the body. We are prepared to do all that can be done with these great ictncdics. In cases of Rheumatism , Neuralgia , Paralysis , Spinal Irritation , Rectal Diseases , Nervous Diseases in females arising from Uterine disorders and many other chronic and subacute troubles , it stands at the head of all known remedies or methods cure. A thorough study of it for jears and the successful treatment of hundreds of cases , after all other lemedies bad fail ed , is sufllcicnt evidence of its great worth anil perfectly satisfies usith its good effects on the diseased body. In the great hospitals and sanitarians of America and Europe , electricity is leading all other methods of treatment. In all leading colleges the professors are teaching electricity as one of the potent remedies and a special chair is appointed in manv of them. Many of the ablest physicians of all schools arc making a specialty ofclcctricitv to the exclusion of almost everything else. This great remedy has often fallen into disrepute by being recommended and used by persons , and physicians , perfectly ignorant of its properties and powers , who would as often advise and use the wrong current as the right one or depend upon it in diseases for which it is not adopted. We are sure that w lien the people become educated in the use ol electricity ( or many diseases vritb nhich the body is alllicted and find the jjreat good therein , the medicines and patent righted nos trums upon which they now rely will grow old and dusty on the shelves. Electricity is nature's great remedy and to fully understand and skilfully apply it is our effort and aim in life.
