THE OMAHA DAILY BEE : THURSDAY. APRIL 21. 1887. 3 nuL TI1F Speculator Now Certain That tie Clique Will Take Oash Wheat. THE DEAL WILL COVER JUNE. Hut MUlc Activity In Corn Awaiting tlic Opening or Navigation A Hlmrp Drop In 1'rovlHions Quotations. CHICAGO PHODUCK MAHKKT. Cnif'Ano , April 20. ( Special Telegram to Iho llr.i : . ] It Is within ten dnys of May de livery now , anil whoever takei that option on now barring thu scalpers must , It Is sirgueil , prepailni ; to taku casli wheat , put up money fur It , ami put away the receipts. Till * un * why the crowd was very greatly alarmed this mornimr when slioitly after the opening Ketshaw As Co. , ami Jrwln , ( ircen & Co. , became larno buyers of May wheat. The price advanced at once. So far as pay ment for cash wheat Is concerned , evidence Is accumulating that thk ) clique proposes to take In elevator receipts afid put out monev. ( iconic C. Walker hitt told perwonal friends that so far as cash wheat in his olllcu is in ilticstlon , It will bo received and paid for. Walker it Co. arc credited with havintr r,000,000 bushels hoiiRht. M. Uoicnleld & Co. make just as little secret of t'nelr custom- ei 9'purposes and say openly that they will receive recelts ) ) and pay cash for them. These two concerns arc supposed between them to have contracts callliiK for not less than 10,000,000 bushels ; and , while a few put the liKtiro lower , some put It higher. With Jrwln , Orecii Ar Co. and C. J. Kershaw it Co. huylnjr May options on Apill 20 at 'ic premium over Juno , It would certainly look as If they wanted cash wheat and nothing else. Soon after the opening the clique houses ISosenfeltt < k Co. , Keibhawit Co. and Kielil , hlmllcy it Co. became largo buyers. Their operations woio involved enougli to keep their plans secret , but their purchases were so much larger than the sales that tlio market at once advanced. May advanced In very Hhoit order to Sl e. The operations wore on so large a scale , too , that the crowd at once surrendered sur rendered not only Its opnoMtlon to the ad vance , but any lingering hope that the clique didn't pronoso to take cash wheat. It was not possible any longer to bcllevu that the clique , which was buyinir May wheat at u uremliiin oflie : over Juno within ten daysot delivery , did not propose to take cash grain. Wheat swung round some dnrinir the ses- hlon was up above Hlc and down as low as Ki c. The price , however , did not cliango half as much as the sentiment. There are left now very few. Indeed , who have any doubt about the May wheat clique. Juno wheat advanced to within J < @lc of the May option. Two dais ngo It was at 3@lc dis count. The clique houses were wide- open buyers of Juno and July to-dav In bin lots , making it apparent that the wheat deal not only would not stop this side ol May 1. but would not btop this side ot Juno 1. The clearances at the seaboard wcru only moderate , but the amount ot export business reported was encouraging. In corn the market was under a pressure from the May longs. The rccelptsstlllcontlnuesmall , but stocks cannot bo much depleted until navigation opens , and this will not bo for ten flays to a foitnight. Provisions dropped Mai ply.
