Many thought that the cliques lute pretty well worked out of their May deal while others were satisfied that they were still heavily long , nnd that "the end WAS no yet. " Evidently the end Is not yet , as MRJ changed l Ql o above June , which would bo ljf@2c above May , If the normal condl tlon prevailed. It la admitted that a verj largo amount of long wheat was sold out or the advance durlne tbe past three days , bu the relative position of May and Juno Is ac oepted by nearly everybody as evidence con elusive that the speculative long Interest I : Btlll a largo one. A number of timid or Unlit walstod shorts were driven In on the las bulge , that culminated at 8CXc , and In usu ally well tntormed circles the Im pression Is deeply crounded that tin co-called speculative short Interest yet re malnlng Is very largely represented by the wheat In store In Chicago and In the ware housei through the northwest back of Chi cngo. A great majority of the rocelvmi houses are said to appear on the books ft "ahort" for May. The Inference naturall : drawn from such a condition of things L that these houses arc short for customer : who have property to deliver. The marke to-day was a guess. Outside conditions con tinue bearish and local sentiment is nieas ured entirely by the predominating oplnioi that may prevail at the inoimmt as to wlmi the alleged "cll < iuos" may do nuxt. Tin crop-scare news and buying sent May 111 again to 8-JKc and June to 8lc. From tin point there \\as a slight settling of values when Walker again carried priced up to th < outside limits previously reached , but jus before the close a sharp decline occurred am linal quotations were at Inside ligurcs real Ized. viz : RJV@S3'/o lor May , bO % lor June and 70xc for July , a net loss on id day of K@'n'c. Trading was lively the firs hour and the last lifteen minutes. Con opened K@.Cc ' lower for future delivery , an < during the lirst half hour or so thcru wa quite active trading. Throughout tbo n malndor of the session the prevailing ton was one ot dullness. In the provision pi the week closed with a llttlo more Intcres shown In the market. In pork there wa new trading , but lard aud short ribs receive Increased attention and were at times quit nctivo. In short ribs the movement In speculative way was characterized with inor than ordinary bplrlt , and under the unload InK of holders lower prices prevailed.
