crease of 222,120 bushels during the lust week.

the BEE. ] CATTLE There were many more
cattle than usual on Monday and the quality
was fairly good that is , there was a lario
supply of heavy cattle. The offerings of in
ferior , rough beeves and thin cattle was also
excessive. All but the smooth fat 10M to
12CO Ib cattle sold about lOc lower. The mar
ket on rough heavy and even wed fat heavy

The market was dull , there being fair busi

were firm and fractional advances were made
within the Iim hour , under the lead of the
Louisville & N'ashviile. The list then became
generally heavy nnd slowly yielded until
nearly 1 p. m. , when the mariict responded
to exiraordlnary strength in llichmond &
West Point , and In moat cases the early
losses were regained. The last hour saw a
decided break upon moru actlv business and

the day.

Monday , Feb. 14.
The Week.
The cattle market has been devoid of any
special features during the past week , the
market remaining about steady as quoted
below. Ho s were selling at the beginning
of the week at S4.bgj.OO. ( On Tuesday the
market declined 5tf ( 10e , and remained about
steady on Wednesday. The market gradually
lirmed up and the week closed with choice
heavy hogs selling at 55.10. The demand was
good all the week untl everythlnc sold
readily. The sheep market was very quiet
all thu week.
Cat do.
The receipts of cattle were liberal for the
first of the week. The market was Inclined
to be slow. However there was veiy little
stock left unsold. The market was about
steady.
Tiio receipts were very light. The market
was actlui and stronger.

The event of the week past in the pro
duce market wns the sudden and heavy de
cline on epes. The wiHk opened with sales
at 2.Mc and declined rapidly until Thurs
day when they sold as low as 14lCc ( per
duz. From that day until the close of the
week they sold as quoted below. The heavy
receipts nnd the mild weather appear to have
caused the decline. It Is now so late In the
season that dealers do not eenerally look for
any advance. Poultry has sold remarkably
steady during the whole week , the demand
beint ; about t-qital to the receipts , and prices
as quoted below. The receipts of butter have
been slk'htly on the increase , and the mnr-
lift weaker , thouch quotations remain the
same. Other lines of produce remain about
steady. _
