Mr. Siiant'/ has completed a painting of Florence hike taken from a last sum mer's sketch. Tlio scenery is not strik ing , but tlio drawing is excellent , and the picture is painted iii the soft , hazy tones of twilight. Mr. Shantz has recently painted a view of Florence Lake taken from a last sum mer's sketch. The scenery is tame enough to contain little inspiration but the drawing is excellent and the picture is ilonu in the soft ha/.y tones of twi light. Mrs. Dr. Jones has put ono of her Irish setters on canvas with .wonderful lidelity to nature. The animal is crouching nose upward , with the expectant expression on his intelligent nice that characterizes his succies. Tlio coloring throughout is agreeably harmonious and in painting the ilogs , the artist betrays a thorough knowledge of anatomy. Kach individual muscle snows faithful to nature. MM. 1) . Jones has put ono of her Irish setters on canvas with wonderful fidel ity to nature. 'J'ho entire picture is , pleas antly harmonious , and in painting the dog tlio artist has betrayed a thorough knowledge of anatomy.
