Byrnes hoard that there was a man who
had been injured sometime before lit ing

and McGuire went to see him , and found
that lie was the man who they were look
ing for. Ho is John K. Vanncss , a lawn -

About two months ago he was detained

was between 12 and 1 o'clock when he

were full of cuts and bruises. Ho had
been terribly beaten anil remained un
conscious several hours. He was still
confined to the house with his injuries
when the detective * saw him.
The story of the robbery tallied with
what tile detectives had already found
out , and Mr , Vanncss was able to give a
description of each of the live men. " The
detectives were satiMied t lint they were
on the. right track and have since been
shadowing them for a fn\orablo oppor
tunity to make an arrest. The thieves
were taken to Inspector Byrnes' room
and Air. Vanncss idcntilicd them ns his
