I.ivu I'oin.Tiiv The demand for live
chickens has fallen off altogether. An occa
sional coop brings Sr-.25 per dozen , but
dealers are forced to sell large chickens as
low as SI. 75 in order togot rid of them. Tnero
have been n eood many live turkeys In the
maiket during the past few dnys which told
fairly well. A few wore sold at Sc. but n
great many had to bo sold as low as fie per
Ib. Ducks were In fair request and sold
generally at S2.75 pur doUeesu are quoted
at 55.00 ( 8.00 per tloz.
DitKssKi ) I'oi'i.Titv The receipts of
dtesscd poultry , during fhe past week , were
heavier than ever betore at this season of the
year. I'ortunately the weather was cool and
favorable tor the consumption of poultry as
well as for handling. The bulk oL the poul
try also arrived later than usual for Thanks
giving while the ictail dealers began buying
eailier In the week than customary. The
market as glutted with dressed chickens
and prices were made to suit thu buvers. A
large amount of stock had to bo earned over
and will have to bu sold as best it can. Stock
which was not choice was entirely neglected.
The same thing which was said of chickens ,
can also be said of turkeys the maiket was
over supplied , especially with poor stock ,
While the market was glutted with poor
slock early In the week a great deal of choice
did not atrive. until too Into for Thanksgiv
ing trado. Theio was very lilth'sah ) for any
thing that : u rived after Wednesday noon , as
the i el all dealers weie already supplied lie-
lore that time. Ducks were in good demand
and choice stock sold well. There were very
few geu < o nnd not unoimh to make a market
but there wusn good deal ot' inquiry for them.

"When I was a little girl , and ouite a

Thiuo were moments of supreme happi

MII-H Moore went , to an inner apart

drew aside thu common portiere that sep

presented herself. A robe of while vel

fell gracefully from her shoulders. In
her hand she held an antique fan of Ven

depended a white satin bag covered with
pearls.
"Tins is ono of my now Worth

Miss Moore's tout so far has been very

The negro schools and colleges in At-
luntn , says the Uatibtltuloii of that city ,
are much more costly ami comfortable
than the schools for the whites. It is
true that much , perhaps the most , of the
money invested in tnese ediliccs came
from the north , but the tact that Atlanta
has been selected as the site ami center
of them speaks well for the enterprise1
nnd local pride of the leading negroes of
Atlanta. Their educational institutions
arc not only imposing structures , but
they are fully equipped and comfortably
endowed ; and , to all outward appear
ances , are doing a good work.
A N'apa , Cal. . man thought he saw a
sea serpent in the river there , but it was
only a solid mass of little Italics , each
about an inch and a half long. The
school was about fifty yards long anil a
yard wide , and headed up stream. The
commotion they made was caused by
hundreds of large tishes that were con
tinually throwing themselves among and
eating up the little ones.
