A I ) MI n he it At nn early hour .yesterday morning , or late hour Monday night , there was a shooting aflair which will doubtless end in the death of the victim ami the tihil of the > liooter for murder. The two par ticipants , a middle-aged man named P. S. Keallng , and a younger man , A. It. Chis- ler , had been together during the evening di inking some , playing cards , an- ! hav ing a merry time , and between 1 and 2 o'clock started for home , they' living as neighbors southwest of the packing home , on the bottom. They were in company with u man named Jones and another named Hayes , wiio works al the transfer. A boy , whose name Is not learned , wan with them also. As the party proceeded along the street Keating and Chislor got to ! ] iiaiT-liug over .some chickens which Keating was carrying homo. Cliisler broke oil'a sunllower stalk , and with this would keep striking the chicken1' ' , causing them to smiuwk lustily , at which Keating was greatly annoyed. At last , after tell ing Ufisler several times to stop , Keating got mad and began calling I'hisler hard names , nnd a quarrel ensued. Chislor pulled a revolver and tired , the hall taking ell'eet. entering Keating's abdo men , near the navel. The wounded man was taken to his homo , and the pollen were called on to hunt up Cliisler , who had Hod down through the weeds and hid Homewhere in the bottoms. While some of the ollii-ers went to the river to euleh liim should he attempt to cross , Ollieer Hi-swiek laid in wait at Cluster's house. About ! ) o'clock In the morning Chi-dcr came Mieaking home , and as ho went to enter the house Heswiek , standing around tin ) corner of the house , had his revolver sighted on him , and told him to throw no his hands. Ho complied speedily and the ollicer took him in charge. He at once tell in Chisler's pocket for the revolver with which liediit the shooting , but lie had managed to getaway away with this. Ilo denied that he had done any shooting at all , and declared that ho liad not carried a gun. He said lie had been hiding in the weeds and had finally concluded to come home and give himself tip , but on being asked why ho was going to give himself up if he had not done anything wrong he could give no very satisfactory explanation. After being locked up in jail he did some talking , but kept denying the shoot ing , but in a very bungling way. Ho said that they got to ( nian-eling over the chickens and that Keating charged him with stealing some of his chickens. 1'in- ally Kealintr c.ame for him witli a revolver ver in his liaml and he ( Cluster ) grabbing Hayes , pulled him around between them so that Keating could not hit him. The struggle was kept up for some time , but ho could not remember anything about shooting. He was sure he had not shot Keating , and yet in the excitement ho could not remember all that did occur. Keating was yesterday lying in his house under Dr. Hollingpr s care , but with little prospect of living for many hours. He has a wife and one sou , a young man who works at the transfer. Cliisler is also a man of family , having a wife and two children. A" search of Chisler'-s house revealed the presence of about a ilo/.en cartridges loaded. The revolver had not been found. Cliisler will remain in jail until the result of Healing's wound is known. Sec that your books are made by More- house & Co. , room 1 , Kverett block. Yesterday afternoon between 2 and 3 o'clock a laboring man staggered up to Isaac Uoty's house , in StreeUville , and as the door was opened he fell upon the lloor in a seeming suasm. Ho was recognized - nized as a man who had been given dinner at the house yesterday about noon. I've lost my money and I guess my life too. " In a few min utes the man was dead , passing away in a spasm which had the indications of having been caused by poison.
