and but few men are about. My lady
customers all wear short hair anil come
to have it trimmed. The fashion of
weaving the hair .short down the back
seems lo bo on the increase in Hrooklyn.

is so sliong that I am compelled to shave
him twice a day , morning and evening. I
have many customers whom I
shave daily. Tlio public now asks
that it be shaven in the midst of
luxurious surroundings. In former years
a man didn't much mind , so long as the
baroer nnd his utensils were clean. Now
it is diiVoront. The chairs must bo ele
gantly upholstered , n matting or carpet
must cover the floor , and the euseniblo of
the shop must remind the customer of
his own home. And with the increased
expense in lilting up hitch establishments ,
the price of shaving has remained the
same. A word about this early closing
movement : In some shops the plan may
work well , but in others it is the reverse.
If a customer enters a shop just at the
time of closing lie can demand that ho
DO waited on. On some evenings , when
1 am supposed to closeat 8 o'clock
promptly , half a do/.en customers will

happens that I don't get away until after
