CATTLE The receipts were not heavy to
day , and the market about steady. The re
ported decline In eastern markets caused a
slightly weaker teeling on tills market , but
the demand was stiong enough to keei
values up. The iccolpts of die.ssed beef
steers continue too light to supply the de
mand. The demand was never better lor
choice butchers' stock , and good , fat young
cows and hellers are belling as high as $4.00 ,
and some oven higher. Handy , fat little
steers ai o selllnc fully as well as medium
steels of heavier weight.
Jlofis The market opened at about the
closing prices of the day before , but a , few
loads were sold early In the morning to
packers who had to liavn them , at stronger
prices. As soon as the dispatches weio re
ceived from the east leportiiiR a , decline , the
market weakened hero but continued active.
