In bu moved aMilo by misuisn hani'ls , anil
one paries through the arch into the din
ing room , wbero an entirely diU'ereut ef
fect is given. It is finished in antique
oak and walnut , and Hie walls hear a pe
culiar tint , which is perhaps bebt de-
M-ribcd by calling it a greeni.ih lino. Tlio
decorations are of bron/.u. The walls are
of ingrain paper , and there appear .sev
eral panels o't the Lineresta work. The
lloor is of Hard wood , polished , and in
laid , the border being ( irecian. A china
closet catches the eye , the door being one
large bovcl plate , there being cut on the
center of the glass the letter "C" in uld
Kngli > h , the same being noticeable on
all the glaviwaro , arranged on the uphol
stered shelving inside. A linen room i.s
also an attractive feature. Tlie entrance
to this has a novel archway of opalescent
glass specially designed. Tlie lloor is
inlaid , and the door of the closets and
facings ot the drawers are paneled and
relieved by carving * representing lions'
head.s with brat-s rings in their mouths.
One of thu novelties of the dining room
appears upon an nnhid.stered stand ,
seeming at lir-l glance to bu a huge punch
bowl. It i.s of brou/.e. and beside it lies
a peculiar golden handled striker. It is ,
in fact , a bell , thu only one of the kind
overseen in tlu.s part of thn country. It
was obtained in San Francisco. When
struck it lias a peculiarly rien and pro
longed sound , wonderlully far-reaching ,
and yet nm-ical to the nearest hcaror.
Tliu kitchen is lim.slieil in white pine ,
and is a model of neatness and con
venience. The range haa large hood
connecting with an independent Hue for
thu cii'Oing : oil'of all savors from the
cooking. 1 ho pantry accommodations
are built into one side of the room , so as
lo provide a place for everything ,
Thu keeping chambers on tlio upper
floor are each worthy of separate de
scription. Kach is diU'erent from the
others in finish , and while tliero is not in
any ono a samcnes.of color , thu variety
of decoration and lints in each harmim-
i/.u to one general elVect. Onu is finished
in walnut and oak , the walls tinted with
mauvr shades. The border is of walnut
and oak , with the carpeting brought sim-
ii\ | to ihis. Another room i finished in
light mahogany and brass. The other
I'm , in is finished in oak. There is a bath
room with every convenience , tins floor
being inlaid and the woodwork being
walnut The decorations are pleasing ,
and the arrangements in all details are in
Keeping.
Tins house is heated by hot air , and
cold and hot water are supplied all parts
of thu hou-o. The lurnaco room below is
arranged to incut every possible want.
In the basement i.s als-o a laundry room ,
with stationary tubs , so arranged that
hot and cold water can be supplied raoh
and emptied from each by pipes. There
is al-o a vegetable collar and a special
fruit cellar , in fact , from basement to
roof the homo seems complete , and in
elegance it is fully in keeping with the
exterior beauty.

Thens is every as-uraneo that the system
will bo put into aclivc operation at an
early day. Tlie work of construction
will begin so soon as weather permits ,
and ere many weeks now the city will
have this metropolitan addition to its

larly in need ofsuch a service , the city
covering such an intent ol territory and
there being no nie-.cnger .service now.
Tlie eiti/.ens are taking hold of the enter

will soon render it as much a necessity
