The hoe market was lower to-day and
nulct. Sellers nro Mow to accept the sudden
cliop jn prices , while buyers are not disposed
to bid above the nctual rnaiket price. It is
claimed on the part of buyers that the market
Jnustgo even lower before It will bo on a
level with eastern markets. The receipts
were lighter than on any day slnco the snow
blockade In .January , due , no doubt , In part
to the low prices nnd Jo the fact that receipts
me usually light the first of the week.
The total receipts of hogs last month were
0,000 as against 20SOO for the month of Jami-
nry. The receipts of cattle last month were
CgfXX ) . and for tlio month of January S.rxDO.
1'rlces for hogs during February end not
fluctuate much. The tendency of values was
rather upward , but prices for the month
closed about the same as they opened. Tlio
regular hoi packing season closed on the
last day of February , with prices higher than
nt the opening of the Benson. The Omaha
houses will continue packing until late In the
season nnd somcof them all summer.
There was nothing doing In the sheep
market to-day. Choice , heavy sheep nro In
demand. Sheen averaging 75 to 100 Ibi are
