It is reported that some of the leading business men are about to institute an investigation of the record of the mayor , and to gather up in tangible form the facts concerning his ollieial acts , and de termine whether there is cause for any further action. There is a gooil big Hold to work on if they hunt up the bottom tom facts in much of the street talk. Mayor Anderson , who starts out , ns an independent republican candidate for senator in Page and I'romont counties , seems to bo causing much trouble , and the Clnriiula Journal thus il.jpicts the situation : The senatorial trouble in this district IR a most vcMitlmm thing , and it , all conies from the embittered and ambitions Major Anderson , who , defeated for congress a few years ago , seems determined to re cover himself , oven if he has to bnlldo/e and override the rights of every body in hU way. llis own county wit down in him by a majorjly of nearly TOO , and the opposition to him is still great , in his own county. For this reason lie was not announced as a candi date in uilliere.nty. . Nut.asinglo paper in Fremont county regarded him as a possible candidate. Anderson sot himself up as 11 bigger man than all the republicans of the district ! Such outragci/us action on tlic part of Major Anderson deserves and will receive the condemnation of all fair minded men. The Page delegation con ceded the nominee to Fremont , but did not propose to be browbeaten out of any voice as to who the candidate should bo. A Chllil Dlos From Kvpotuiro. From Dcnnison , through the medium of the Heview , conn-s the details of the horrible deali ! of a little 7-year old boy , which Ims called forth the righteous in dignation of the community. Andrew Hrinkman and his family , con sisting of three ' . hildren to which lie was the father , and of a wife and two child ren to which she was thu mother both parents having been twice married re side three miles north of Dcnison. The family is extremely poor. Th y own a team and cow , and having no in- closure , all the children from the 11-year old boy down to the it-year old girl watclie'd the cow by turns. There was a little boy named Henry. 7 years old. of weak constitution and deli cate health , to whos.i charge tlio herding of the cow ehielly devolved. Ho was bare footed , and his little loirs showed bruises innumerable , old and now , r. ce.ived in the grubs and brush. He. went out on Satur day noon on the hill opposite the house to herd the cow as usual. Kvoning came but no boy ; the father had gone to town ; the little children searched some ; the mother and it was his own mother called. She heard him not. The father and a neighbor came homo about. 8 o'clock. It was dark and they searched with a lantern. They inquired at two neighbors , but at 1 o'clock in the morning they gave up the search and we.nt to bed. During the night the cold cruel rain came down. On Sunday it rained and very little search was made. On Sunday noon that father and mother we.ut live miles from homo ton christening and merry-nuking , staying until Monday noon. They still thought lie was witli some neighbor. Xo oll'ectivo search was made un til Wednesday , after G. MoAhren as township trustee had been notified , who made appointments witli the neighbors to meet at 8 o'clock in the morning. About 10 o'clock the child was found , about ! WO feet from the house on the hill opposite in the ha/.cl brush. Evi dence showed that ho did not die until Snuilav or Monday. His little legdugout about two inches of the ground. He died in extreme agony. Whether the child fainted from weak ness or was attacked with sudden illness , no one could tell , but tlio condition of the body and the surroundings proved that he died as late as Sunday or Monday. There is no evidence that the parents wore criminals by intent. The death is simply tlie result of stupidity , indillur- enee and gross negligence. An inquest was held on Wednesday evening. Dr. Filx.gerald , coroner ; A. If. MoAhron , August Anderson and M. T. Hill were the jury , . ! . Fred Meyers , clerk. Ten witnesses were heard and the verdict in substance was that the child came to its death by exposure on Sunday last , and that the parents wore guilty of gross negligence. Wo understand that Dr. Fit/.gorald has issued warrants of arrest with a view of having Hrinkham and wife answer for manslaughter. Sensible 1'Vi.eiuln of halior. The rain interfered Nomewhat with the mee.ting of the workingnu'i : on Sunday evening , it being a dark a : d dismal tight for folks to wander out. Still there was a goodly si/ed audience of ibont sixty or so , and there was a goodly iniount of enthusiasm shown. Judge liartlott , of Omaha , waspresont. and was ho principal .speaker of the evening , lie discussed the labor question at some ength , and the listeners seemed inter ested. There wore several local orators , who gave their views pretty freely in re gard to local matters , Among thu iiteakors were Mr. John Short. Mr. John Aides and Mr. Kilgore. Tin ! city admin- stration got sonu very sharp raps from hose gentlemen , and some very plain ruths were told of the causes of coin- ilaint on the part of the laboving elas.-es. The little mayor was present , and ho bought he saw an opportunity to win > ack the workingmen by his usual suave uanners and inunilicent promises. Ho ; enoroiisly otlercd to rent a hall for their next meeting , provided they would go in with him on a ' 'grand rally , " but as they had learned from past o.\porionco that such "grand rallies" meantsimply a hur rah for the mayor , they very promptly sat down on the little scheme , anil to make matters worse for him , they told Mime very unpleasant things for him to hear This last effort of tlio I tth < mayor will probably cause him to let the work- inmnc.n alone , MI that they may go ahead with their regular business , which they have the good WJIISD enough to manage without his help or advice. CjOwing to the stormy condition of the night , and the couM-quuntfallin" oil'from the natural attendance , it was decided to adjourn the meeting until Wednesday evening , at which time it is oxpecteil there will bo still more interesting ad dresses , and the Invitation is still a broad and cordial one for all to attend , except those who havu pot , per&onal or political schemes to get through , * Tlio Keinulo Kail I'layors. It is said that these Uvo young smueos of DCS Moine.s , succeeded in getting slightly acquainted with twooftl'O young ladies , and that they Haltered themselves they had made such an impression that they could induce the ladies to take a drive with them. The girls were fully prepared to handle just Mich young fellows , anil so they con sented , nndthe young men secured an elegant carriage , andaway the nnartctto rolled into the country roads , where tlio scenery was supposed to bo especially lino. Having got a distance of two or throe miles from the city , the pleasant chatting suddenly .stopped , and the young dudes were soared nearly outot what lit tle wits they had by seeing both the la dies pull revolver. * , and as the masculine eyes looked down the barrel , the request was inadu that the owners of the eyes get out. at once and walk home , or got tlysre any way they could. One thing was cer tain. They could ride no further in the companj' of the ladies. The young fel lows were too frightened to beg. and as they sank gasningou thc ronnd , the carriage was quickly turned in the direc tion of home , and several hours later two woo-begoiio suits of the best tailor made clothes came dragging wearily into the city , and sneaked through the alloys and by-ways so as not t. ) meet any ot their acquaintances , among whom the joke had by that time got.pretty well circu lated.
