hoped that the citizens of Omaha will bo

been Issued. The report is Intended to
bo supplementary to that Issued In April ,
In it ho nays :
In the actions commenced since April 7 ,
1885 , the claims for damages , on occounc of
grading , amount to $74,292 , which , with sim
ilar claims then reported , makes a total of
$115,876.
In addition to the grade damage cases re
ferred to , the claims for personal injuries on
account of defective sidewalks , in suits com
menced sii.ce the date of my last report ,
amount to S10,000 CO , and with the sum * in
volved in actions then pending , makes a total
of $50 000.00.
In addition to the grade and ildewalk cases
referred to , there arc other tuits now pending
against the city , Involving about $83,000.00 ,
thus making a grand aggregate of clnlm * , In
which the city has been sued , of $218,870.00
The amount is somewhat appalling , but
with the ttue facts of each casa fully worked
up , thogreat majority of the claims , In the
light of such facts nnd of special benoQts re
ceived , will vanish as dew before the nun. "
