Phillips , another forger , stood up to receive his sentence. Jndgo Neville fixed the penalty of hla crlmo at six years in the penitentiary at hard labor and $1 fine and costs of prosecution. Skllos , tbo Council Bluffs forger , who al.ng toward tbo close of the term entered a plea of guilty , was next called for sentence. When the presence of the notorious outlaw be came known , largo crowds gathered at the depot , anxious to gain a glimpse of the prisoner. So dense were the crowds In fact tbat the police were repeatedly compelled to disperse them. Some doubts were expressed as to whether Wan would ever roach Carbon county alive. The deputies in charge expraesed an opinion that an attempt would bo made to lynch him , as "Big Nosed George" Parrott was lynched. Ho will be taken to Oarbon county for trial. There nro two others of the gang who are still wanted by the deputy sheriff , and upon vrhoao track they are pressing hard. Tboeo men are roaming through the northwestern country , leading the llfo , of the "bloodthtraty bandit. " It Is expected that they will scon ba captured. "Tho circumstances connected with the crime for which Wan is bolncr carried through to Carbon county , Wyoming , form a very Interesting chapter of border llfo , history , " said a gentleman well posted on local lore a reporter , yesterday "It TT8B in Auguat 187S tbat a band of six or seven outlaws at tempted to wreck a Uni on Paclfi paesongor train forty miles east of RJW- lins , by pulling out a rail and laying It across : tbo track. Tbo trick was dis covered by a section hand in time to avert the accident , and a band of deputy sheriff * were put on the trail of the out laws , Trro scouts who were especially fitted for the work of dealing with such desperados ; as Wan and his men , were selected to track down the bandits. They succeeded in getting the trail without much trouble ; found a spot which had been used as a camp by Wan and bis men. Thinking that they bad at length found a clue to the whereabouts of the outlaws the two com menced to examine the sur d roundings closely , and while unconscious § the slightest danger , they were fired upon in ambush by the desperadoes , and killed.
