Tbo live stock market has been fairly active
here during the week , the receipts being lib
eral. Hogs declined during the first part of
the week , but clocod this evening at about the
same prices as last week. Sheep are steady
and a few wanted. Cattle are steady atobout
LOc higher than at the close last Saturday.
Butter is unchanged and the receipts con
tinue heavy , there still being no prospects for
an improvement. A great deal of the butter
arriving , although fresh , is not properly
worked and therefore sours quickly.
The egg market shows a Httlo more firmness -
ness nnd some sales are made at lOJc. Cand-
Ing is now necessary.
The poultry market is somewhat improved
and prices ate n little more firm. Largo slza
spring chickens are in strong request while
small ones sell slowly.
Sugars are j@&c lower than last week , and
raeinets generally with grocars is reported
; ood.
