Stocks Thla haa been the dullest day or
the stock exchange for months past. The
market opened irregular and in the early
dealings exhibited some strength , By the
end of the first hotir , however , gains had been
mostly lost and the market assumed extromolj
dull tone with fluctuations confined to smal
fractions of 1 per cent. In the- middle of the
afternoon the whole list became weak , but
the decline was checked before 3 o'clock nnd
the close was steady. At a meeting of the
directors of the Wabaah railroad to-day Mr.
Gould's resignation as n member of the board
was accepted and Mr. E. C. Clarke elected to
fill UIR Tacaucy.

Eggs The egg market is at present in a
very peculiar fix. It is still entirely "unset
tled , " and yet this word does hardly express
the actual condition , Two of the heaviest
shippers hero have been forced to withdraw
from the market. Eastern markets are all too
low to justify shipping and with nothinp but
home consumption left , prices were bound to
decline. Receipts continue very heavy and
with dragging sales at any price for the last
week. Overstocks are now accumulating fast ,
and only small lots moving at 10@10Jc.
