Stocks Again opened strong. The morn
ing sold oil o fraction during the middle of
the day and was again strong nnd advancing
in the afternoon , closing 8(5)1 ( ) higher , except
Northern Pacific , which declined n fraction.
The business dona was the largest reported for
lomo timo. The largest dealing waj done in
Lackawanna , St Paul and Northwestern. Over
sixty per csnt of the day's business was done
in tliC3o Block ? . Complaint was made of de
liveries of stocks being very slow , which hap
pens only when short and interest very large.
It Is stated that the borrowing ( demand is
greater than at any time dur > ng the last nine
ty days , St , Paul and Northwestern respond
ed to favorable reports , enormous tonnage
being offered the railroads throughout the
west and northwest ,
