Wednesday livening , October 22 , J
Corn is now earning into market in large
quantities. Old corn is held at 40 cents per
bushel upon the street , while new corn is of
fered tor 30 cents per bushel. The now crop is
soft and Is not yet fit to place in cribs for fu
ture use. Hay is plenty nnd good upland
wild hay is selling upon the streets at $7 per
ton. The cool weather has a decidedly stim
ulating effect upon all branches of trade and
business men in general are fooling hopeful
and anticipate a large fall and winter busi
ness. Collections through the state
are reported good , and if warm
weather does not return there is every pros
pect of good times. The moat sanguine of the
tradesmen do not anticipate much of a boom
until after the presidential election.
In the grain market to-day there has been a
slight decline all through , with the exception
of barley , which held its own. Wheat de
clined 2J cents , corn declined 1 } cents , and the
market is weak. Rye declined 1 cent , whil
oats advanced J cent , *
