For the next two weeks Omaha will bo the scene of unusual activity , owing to several events which will take place hereof of interest not only to the state in gun- oral , but also to the country cast and weal of Nebraska. From present indications Omaha will bo visited by moro people next week than has over hctocomo in the tame length of time tn the history of ior existence. To those visitors who lave not looked upon Omaha for two years a wonderful change will bo pre sented. The corner stone of the now court house , which now from its oxter- or has the appearance of being com- iletcd was laid just two years ago. At ho time of the state fair in 1882 only wo blocks of pavement wore laid and hoao for experiment only. Now Oma- m lies over oovon miles of pavement , with n continuation of paved streets ixtpnding one-half tho'dlstanco from the Jnion Pacific depot to the state fair ; rounds. KB Interior ArrAiiKCtnontn mid Ad \AiitafcB r > rntil Opening. On Tuesday evening next , Soptombe 2 , one of the moat superb and perfect ! equipped hotels over opened in Omaha for the accommodation of the public , wi bo thrown open for the reception o guests. Mr.l'ctorGooato whose ontcrpriso ! a du the construction of this handsome build ingis ono of our oldest and moat favorabl known citizens , having been a rcaidon of Omaha for the past twenty years. II first began his present business ton year ago , in the brick block located on th north side of Farnam street and betwoot Fifteenth and Sixteenth street , the now building adjoining that property on th east side and both being united for common purpose in the future. Som time ago the rapidly increasing demand on Mr. Cloos * hospitality necessitated in creased quarters and ho then determined to build in ouch a style that no othc place in the city could discount him , am that ho has made a grand success of it none who look over the building , inside and out , will over doubt. The plan wore prepared by Ilonry Voss , of Omaha and their architectural beauty is porfec in every respect. The now hotel is of brick , with atone facings , four stories' in height and ! )3 ) b ; 120 foot in size. It contains iifty-two sleeping rooms , beside spacious parlors ofllco , bar-room , dining room , etc. Tin front of the house is most propossing anc the great panel windows give promise o the cheeriness to bo found within. Oi entering the good impression is strength cncd. At the left is a broad hall-way whoso colling is a splendid skylight ii the very roof itself. A wide stair-way of oak with massive rails and newel posts loads to the second story and tlionc forms a balcony about that Iloor am makes the four halls form a court in the very center of the two houses. Fron the roar a first-class passenger elevator furnishes easier access to each story , the arrangements in this respect being more than usually comploto. At the right of the main entrance , a door loads to the bar room and this is un doubtedly the finest furnished in town. The furniture is of black walnut and veneers - noors , inlaid with vim-colored woods , now so popular in stylo. Mirrors on all sides reflect the room , which is forty by twenty-two feet in size and lighted by largo windows in front and sides. The fixtures were all ordered by" Mr. Gees personally and made by the best workmen in Chicago. A description of them Trould of itself occupy a column. From the barroom folding doora load to the wine-room , fifteen by fifteen feet in size and from thence another sot of folding doors open Into the dining room thirty by thirty , This room is also fin ished in hard wood and very light and cheerful looking. The kitchen , still far ther back , twenty by twenty-two , is one of the moat complete to bo found and a massive range reminds ono of the glorious dinners it will beiof use in preparing. On the second iloor , in front , is a suite of parlors , well lighted and furniahed in first-class stylo. The remainder of this and the other two floors is devoted to guest's roomsbath rooms , closets , etc. , and all over the house are found the la test modern improvements , such as gas , water and electric light , the whole build ing is heated by stcaoi , and every room is an outside room. The guoat's rooms are beautifully fitted up with handsome carpets , walnut furniture seta , marble topped table , bureau and wash stand , and , in fact equal to any in Omaha. The house formerly known as the Gees hotel is now joined to the now ono by wide doors and in it will bo a fine office , barber shop , etc. A first class res taurant is among the advantages of the house and , in short , it would bo hard to imagine any conveniences not possessed by it. The restaurant will bo kept open at all hours. It Is the determination of the proprietor to rebuild the old portion of the block next spring , of uniform style with the now , and the Gees hotel block will bu the pride of Farnam street. Too much credit cannot bo given our well known fellow-towaman for his ener gy and enterprise and for the spirit of confidoncp in the growing city and the appreciation of the public , as shown in this monument to his past success. On the occasion of the opening , Tuesday eve ning , the public generally has a cordial invitation to come and inspect the now house , get a good square meal and enjoy themselves generally , and Tin : Bih : will nay right here that they will inisH a big thing if they do not accept. If Mr. Coos' success is as great as his enterprise and uood taste entitle him to ho has a bonanza that will laat him a life timo. BASE BALL ROWDIES , Clul > TulccH rohHcssion of a U. & M. Train. Ho again entered th car and sang out in a tone of authority "You've got to quit thh funny business.
