The passengers skipped out of the car , so

when the freight train struck it. The
car was badly wrecked , but luckily there
was time for all to escape , except this
ono lady. This wns Mrs. Jr. Kohlor , n
widow who lives on the corner of Fourth

Oat are cheap and can bo procured in

They nro most serviceable when ground ,
but contain quito a largo quantity of
refuse The bettor plan of feeding ground
oats is to sift them , using the finer par-
ions for : chicks nnd the coarser parts for
growr ; stock. But , in feeding such
uaterial , some care is necessary , or
damage ; will bo done in causing the crops
to become bound , and while the oat meal
s very nutritious something plso must
bo > given with the coarse material.

tor than ; oat meal. Tnko ono pint of
meal , ouo pint of corn meal , half n pint
of fine bran ( shipstuff ) and add enough
milk , buttermilk , whey or clabber to
make it of rather stiff consistency , and
then add sufficient boiling water to heat
t through , provided it is not made tco
soft , Buforo adding the milk , mix with
thu dry meal a spoonful of ginger , rod
pepper and pulverized copperas , and
three teaspoonfuls 1 ot ground bonollusood
meal and : ground oyster shells. Mix the no }
whole thoroughly , and food to young any
chicks morning and night as much as they made
oat up clean , and they will have a
perfect food , grow , keep healthy and bo
subject to but little disease. At noon
them as much wheat as they will eater
cracked corn ono day atid wheat the
next The coarser parts of the oat meal
should bo mixed as follows : Ono part
moa ] , ono part bran and two.parts
meal. Add to each quart of the
mixture a tablespoonful cf gingora tablespoonful -
spoonful of pepper , copperas and salt.

shells. Mix with milk or hot water ,
food it to the adult fowls in the
morniti . At night give wholegrains. It
not necessary to feed adult fowls nt
nooni , unless it bo green stuff. A little
should bo given with the so'ft food
whenever It can bo done , but the milk ,
linseed meal and oat meal are good substitutes
stitutcf , as they contain nitrogen largely.
