off under largo sales to 28ji , Central Pacific
broke 2 cent to 31 , and other active shares tlo'

there was n. complete change for the bettor ,
and all the loading stocks were in busk demand <
mand lor bull account nnd to coor shorts ,
Chief among the causes which contributed to
the improvement , wore an announcement from
Liverpool that § 750,000 American gold had
been shipped from that port to Now York ;
that Vnnderbilt had been a large buyer of
Boino of hirf stock ? , notably Lake Shore ; the
announcement that the Union Pacific compa
ny would as usual pay its July interest ; the
favorable bank statement , nnd the fact that
Boino of the active room traders had turned
from bear to bull. The improvement ranged
from 1 to Eg par cent. The market closed at
or near the highest point of the ] day. Compared -
pared with last night's closing , prices show :
