Van- ness , who is charged with kicking up a row in Ida Story's house. There was a r w in Kato Herbert's liotel on Saturday night , and L. 0. Tay lor , Jim Murphy and Jrhn Tracy were arrested for taking a hand in it. Jim Hughes is to answer the charge of n plain drunk. Frank Stevens was arrested on com plaint of G. Hallor , who claims that 3tovona entered the house where Mrs. Hallor lay sick in bed , and insulted her. N. E. Barney is to explain about his boistrous actions at the Lower hotel. John Black stands charged with slap- [ ling a boy Adolphus Kastnor. The man , giving his name as Ball , who claimed to bo robbed of $400 in Ida Story's house will answer a charge of being drunk and disturbing the ponce. It appears that ho entered the housu to kick up a row ; got the worst of it ; got thrown out and going down to the crook to wash the blood off his face , was so drunk that ho fell down , lie then claimed to have boon robbed. ' ,000 judge and ft § 1,200 clerk preside , wore brought up hero , and coats taxed up to the county , while the cost of the police court runs right along in addi- lion. lion.Tho The board was expecting for thoao revelations , that some big bills would bo presented , but hardly prepared to see as largo ones ns were really presented. Justice Vaughn's bill for April and May footed up § 208.50 , nearly § 150 a month , while the fees for constables , witnoanes , etc. , Tforo proportionately largo , making the court r rather coatly one for the county. The first impulse Boomed to bo to throw the irholo bill out , but County Attorney Mynster , who is one of Vaughan'a pels , waa sot at work looking the Hums over , and cutting them down Finally account of ? ! > 7.70 was agreed upon. To look at the several items contra dicts the statement made some time ago by THK Bin : as an instance of how Mils are run up. Several days were picked at random , and Vnuglin'a charges footed up as follows : May 11 , § 3.50 ; May 10 , § 10 ; May 10 , § 30.50 ; May 20 , § 30. It is to bo remembered that Vaughn's court is but 0110 of many , and that in addition to thoao amounts there are to bo counted the foes of constables , witnesses , etc. , ao that the justice ahop iamado about aa expensive as a district court. A person might naturally suppose thnt this city waa in a terrible [ condition , all these case being criminal in their nature , and it might also bo supposed that n largo number of the guilty were punished , but an examination of the billa shows that there wore 83 cases in the two inontlw , and out of ilia 83 cases three gave bonds to keep the peace , two vroro eont to the grand jury , and aix wore found guilty. The remaining 72 out of the 83 cases wore dismissed or defendants discharged. A glance fit the other juatica fees showed that X. Schurz had fees amount ing to § 180.00.
