prcfsuro to Bell dividend paying stocks , while
non-dividend payers wore comparatively neg 8
lected. Bofuro the first call Missouri Pacific
and Western Union and Union Pacific dot el
oped strength which chnckod the downward
movement. The other active shares rallied 4
to 1J. A decided break in Lnckawanna depressed -
pressed the gonorul list | to J. The brokers
most prominent in depressing the stock wore
aftorxvards cons ] > ! cuous buyers , I.ackawaua
rosa 3 per cent ; other actiio shares advanced
4 to 2g. Tha feeling WAS more quiet after 1
P. M. and a reaction of J to S occurred , After
the dolivoiy hour thcro was a rush to cover ,
resulting in an advance of 1 to GJ nbovo the
lowest point of the day. Kound lots of all
stock were taken at the advancing figures.
The market closed strong at the bast prices of
the day. Compared with Saturday , Qulncy
is 4J higher , Omaha preferred 2j , Union Pa-
cificS , NVestorn Union 1J. '
To-day i to 1 per cent was paid for the use of
Burlington and Quincy. "Seller GO" were
put out in the IlliuuH Central at 1.12 to 1.13J
when the regular price was 1.1G , Four hun
dred shares of Quincy were closed out , "un-
dor the rule , " for cash , late in the day.
