rise of 1 to 3J. Missouri Pacific was espec
ially prominunt ; the advance was partly based
on the report that Commissioner 1'ink intend *
to a-ivanco freight rates. The bank statement ,
which was unfavorable , brought about agon-
oral selling , nnil the market ruled irregular to
the close Some shares wore % veil supported ,
others depressed to tin lowest point of the
week. Prominent among the latter wore
Lake Shore , Illinois Central , Now York Cen
tral , and Northwestern , while Missouri Pacif
ic , Western Union , Union Pacific , Heading ,
Oregon Trans. , nnd Pacific Mail were posi
tively stronjr. The loading shares command
ed 1-04 to 1 per cent premium per diom.
