Stocks The fcaturea of speculation were
the strength of Missouri Pacific , Western
Union and trunk line sharoa and the weakness
of Erie and Northwest. Notwithstanding
these few weak spots , the market was > noio
settled than for some days. The report that
Pink had withdrawn his resignation favorably
influenced the trunk lines. There has been
loss pressure to neil coal stocks. Krio hroko
had much larger
on rumors that the company
amount on deposit at the Marino bauk than
reported , and that the company would consequently
I quently default on its July interest. Union
1'acific' was attacked by the rumor tint the
July diidond would bo passed. It was au
thoritatively stated that the rumors in both
cases were unfounded. The market closed
firm. It is understood the holders of junior
mortgages on the Wabash road will bo asked
to fund tlwir coupons and receive scrip for the
same for two or three years , to enable tbo
company to take care care of its floating debt
and provide now equipment , etc.
