Stocks The share market opened weak and
depressed for coal stocks ; Granger and Trunk
Line sharoj wore also weak. Missouri Pacific ,
Western Union , Northern Pacific and Krio
were exceptionally strong , nnd In good do-
mand. After mid-day it was announced that [
the Baltimore & Ohio restored grain rates
from St. Louis eastward. This ) caused a
marked change for the latter , and in a very
little tlmo the market was l@lc. higher , the
improvement being general. Near 2 o'clock
the excitement subsided and there was a reac
tion of 4@ Jo. Subsequently n strong , buoyant
movement sot in and many shares sold up to the
highest point of the day. Just before tuo close
the bears raided Wabash preferred , Kansas &
I' Toxa9 , Lackawanna , Northwestern , nnd
Beading. In the final transactions , however ,
there was o rally of J@Jc. The market closed
firm.
