It is the intention of the projectors of this enter prise to afford not only the omployo an opportunity to got cheap and comforta ble homo , but also to give the citizens of Omaha a chance to secure a desirable snburbnn homo upon the most reasonable terms. That hundreds of families will take advantage of this opportunity there is not the least doubt. They will bo given ( ivory possible convenience for transportation , OB trains will bo run hourly between the Union Pacific depot and South Omaha. A depot will bo built at South Omaha , and another at the stock yards , To accommodate the traffic between Omaha and South Omaha a double ( rack is to bo built between the two points. The belt railway will also connect with the South Omaha trains , and thus persons can reach almost any point in Omaha cither by rail or by the horse cars. The drive between South Omaha and Farnam street , can bo made in lea * than half an hour , either by Twenty-fourth Sixteenth or Thirteenth streets. It is proposed to put all the roads loading to South Omaha in the very best condition , and a viaduct on Sixteenth street is ono of the proposed improvomonta. This will make Sixteenth the longest otroot and the main artery of the city. Street cars will at no distant dity run the whole length of Sixteenth street , and probably to South Omaha. When the La * tractcontaining 320 acres , was purchased , .tho price be ing $250 per acre , or a total of $80,000' ' , no ono , except P. E. Her , had any idsa of the valuable water supply that was being bought with the land , and wo b lievo that not raoro than two or thoreo members of the land syndicate know that there was any water at all upon the land To Mr Ilor belongs the credit of sug gesting the idea that perhaps thos springs could supply enough water for I South Omaha , Ho had known oi thesi prings for some years having learned o thorn from men who were engaged in hauling sand from a sandbank nea them. IIo wont and examined th springs , and doterminedito buy the lane as ho wanted to run the water in pipca to Willow Springs Distillery by way of the rafino and'along ' the B. & M. track , but the price asked for the properly was more than he felt inclined to pay. Mr. Herman Kountzo urged him to purchase the property in order to secure the springs , and ho authorized Mr. Kountzo , who know all about thorn , to buy the hud for him , but cs wo have stated above , the price demanded wa then considered exorbitant. Mr. Her , who was always , outliuaustlo over the springs , suggested to the syndi cate , of which lie was a member , that it would bo advisable to invcsligstn and find out whether they would supply auflloient water for South Omaha. It was soon as certained that the stream fl > ws 520 gai- Ions a minute , 31,200 'gallons an hour , and 748,800 gallons per day of 24 hours , This solved the water problem , and it ii now proposed to , build a dam , and put ii water works at the springs. It is an immense boom for Omaha as well as for Nebraska. Besides build ing up this city , it will establish an im portant cattle market which will prove an incalculable benefit to the entire west. It is the nucleus of n vast system of industries which will make Omaha great city. Wo advise our people to take n drive to South Omaha to satisfy them selves there that wo have not exaggerated the dimension * of the boom. It terminated by Linen receiving n frightful gash in the wrist from a knife or other sharp instrument. Officer Kuight seeing the crowd running toward the saloon wont over and found Linen lying senseless , from loss of blood , in tno doorway. Kanty had fled. The wounded man was placed under arrest.
