In the compa ny was a man named James Jennings with whom aho became enamored am soon after married. She had ono chile by him , a girl , and lost year Jennings deserted sorted her. Her cousin says that the deceased was not able to stand the shock and that aho had not boon in hqr rtgh mind ainoe , aho mourning after the faithless loss husband continually. It was discovered yesterday morning that sometime during the night previous Durglars had visited the Chicago & Rock Island passenger depot , gaining nn entrance - trance byn window. They took from the ticket ofllco n rubber coat , and an undercoat , and several boxes of pens , They gained on entrance to Iho baggage room by smashing the door with a pick , and took oat a small black trunk and a valiao. It appears that they took the baggngo over to an empty freight Ci.r and there broke open the trunk and valise , and becoming satisfied with the contents , carted them away. A rope with which the trunk was tied was found at this car and also ono of the chocks and a vest , SOMEWHAT. Thiovcs visited the residence of John Snoathor the natno night , and were prowling about the house when some of the family were awakened nnd the fol lows skipped , taking with them a suit of clothes. Snonther expected yesterday to got some money on the sale ot eomo horsoa , end it is * urmisod that some ono who heard of this expected that the money would bo in the house , but for tunately for Mr. Snoathor it was not. The police thought it was some fellow who wanted to jlay amart nnd had too much whisky on board , ne they failed to find any deader or wounded , but it appears that Ander son , who u connected with Lacy's gamb ling house , thought it meant moro. Ho was going homo when the shot was fired , and the bullet whizzed past him unpleas antly near. Ho gave the credit of the shot to some ono who had a grudge against him , and so confident ia ho that it was intended for him that ho is gathering < oring pointers so as to got at the whole facts. THE COUNTY BOAED , An EarncHt DlsciiHslon of tlio Now Court House Question , The county board waa in session yes borday , and the now court house and jail matter was brought up through a resolu tion introduced by Mr. Graham , instructing - ing the county attorney to take stops to jot the injunction dissolved by which the board was restrained from issuing the bonds for the erection of the buildings. Mr. Graham did thia , not occauso the board wanted to issue the bonds , or had any intention of doing so , in view of the view of the squabble about the recent election. The board had no such inton ; ion , ana no who know the board would inliovo that they had , BO he wanted to see the injunction dissolved , as there was no occasion for any such instrument mngint ? over their heads. Fremont Benjamin , the attorney from Avoca , then made quito n lengthy argu mont. He did not have any fear hat the board would issue the > ends under the circumstances , even it .hero was no injunction preventing thorn , it was not the board that ho waa atraid 1 of , but ho called attention to the record which showed that the vote liad boon canvassed , and the proposition declared carried , instead of showing that the vote wi ? onty pirtially canvassed , the canvass f ueve7l townships boingjrostrained bya [ omporary function. Ho was ofra.1 ° | 3tno such order of the courts , and not Oi iio county board. \Viththis view of the matter , 4Mr. . Graham withdraw hs ! resolution. Mr. Benjamin did net appear to have o much faith in county attorney , tor , as in the county board. Jio criti cised the lattor's action in ' . 'no matter of ho injunction restraining the board from canvassing the Votes of certain ownahips. It appears that * Mr. Wynstor , without asking the advice of the board waived the usual inio of notice , so that this injunction was granted forthwith , whereas if ho in sisted on his right of a reasonable time for hearing , the board could have gone on with ita canvass of tlio voto. Ho did not feel that Mr. Mynster would defend the first injunction suit with much eager ness and wanted the board to select someone ono else to attend to the caso. Mr. Mynstur gave it back as good as it was sent nnd explained hia action in the matter to show that ho had done what ho believed right and proper. The county board expressed the opin ion yesterday afternoon that while not criticising Mr. Mytiator'a failure to ask their advice , and not doubting that ho would do the very best ho could in fight ing the injunction auit ugalust tlio county , yet if the dissatisfied onca wanted some other attorney to assist in looking after the cases , they could have their wish pro vided they furnished ono at their own expcnsa and not at the county's expense.
