The Seller of aSilyer Mine in Omaha On His fay Heine , The "Jllnnlo Monro" Mlno Solil for $500,000 to n Tarty of men. Yesterday at the depot a BEE reporter mot Mr. II. E. Miller , the recent owner of the "Minnie Mooro" silver mine at Dollovuo , Idaho. Mr. Miller was just returning from the east , where ho had disposed of the silver mine above mentioned tionod to an English firm by the name of Dent , Palmer & Co. , for the magnificent sum of $500,000 caoh. The company made the first payment of $120,000 , and the balance , $376,000 , will bo paid in Salt Lake City on Saturday next. Mr. Miller has had associated with him in the mine two ether gentlemen , but ho has owned the controlling interest Ho has been located at Bellevue and has boon instrumental in developing the mine which has just been sold for so handsome a figure. It is ono of the best paying mines in the Wood Ilivor coun try. About thirty tons of the ore is daily received nt the Smelting and Re fining works in this city. Tlio ere pans out about 110 ounces of silver and 05 per cent load , giving to the owners a not profit of § 100 per ton or $3,000 per day.Tho The now owners are already making preparations for the ineroasing of the hoisting and reduction works , so as to bo able to take ono hundred tons per day from the mine , instead of thirty Which as now. Mr. Miller , in speaking of his roconl sa'o , taid that it was a case where the mine owners have dealt directly with the purchasers , with no third party between , and hence there is no brokerage to pay. Furthermore the gentleman said it is the only way for a mine owner to profitably dispose of his property. In speaking of the ere in the Woot River country , Mr. Miller said it is prin cipally Galena ore , that is a very higl I'rado of lead oro. "Tho natural outlet for all AVood Ilivor mines , " said Mr. Miller , "ia Omaba or Denver , but nbou 80 per cent of all shipment ! ) como direct ly to the Smelting works in this city , and the quantity is to bo largely increascc with the increased facilities , which wil bo added during the present season. " This is , of itself , is another evidence o : the future prosperity and growth o Omaha , the Gate City , which ia now bo ing.watchod BO closely by the capitalists both cast and west , and , as it is a natura outlet for all mine products from the Wood river country , just BO it must bo the natural market center for all stock and prodnco of the great northwestwhicl is being populated this season as never before. The arrangements I had made with Mr. Bowman were that I should furnish al the paper and material necessary for the transcription of the Douglas county re cords and that the satno should bo my property. I have furnisher ] the material us agreed and think I liavo a right to possession - session of the notes. I have also paid all demands as per agreement for work done upon my books and transcripts. Learning : that Mr. Amos had sued out a writ ft replevin _ to recover possession of the manuscripts yesterday morning , I at once proceeded to the court-houso to got them and upon entering the olllco was met by Mr. Pratt , Deputy Sheriff Orowoll and Mr. Bowman. Owing to the storm and consequent quent mud , the audience was very small , ilany Boats , however , were sold which were n6t occupied last evening. Al- hough the audicnco waa small , it was nevertheless a very appreciative ono , and each selection in its turn was loudly ap < plaudcd. The programme wai opened by shorus : < , "Stars of the Summer Night , " byBa Leslie , and "Sweet and Low , " by Bamby. While the Philharmonics show cloao and careful drill , it cannot bo said , that they have improved a great deal , it any , since their laat concert. In a num bemi of places in their choruses the har mony was poor , and it seemed as if they miwe were all singing with difficulty. Then , again , the singing was easy and the liar- mony nnd effect nearly approaching per' ' foction. The chorus was followed by Mia ; Emnm IIowo , with Proch's "Thomo ant Variations. " As the little lady utoupod forward upon the platform she was greeted with storms of applause. Al the finish the audience would not take no for nn answer , but insisted upon another selection. Misi Howe responded with "I Wouldn't , Would You ? " She is a very pleasing artist , and has won for herself n warm plnco in the hearts of the musical pcoplo of Omaha. Her voice is awoot , powerful and flexible , and her upper register ia wonderful. At thi cloao of her first selection she cxoculec in nn exquisite manner a difficult trill which fairly captivated her auditors. Madame Teresa Carrono gave as i piano ! solo Liszt's "Ilhapsodio-Hongroiso , No. 0. " The audience sat as if spell be bound while the handi * of this wonderfu at chased each other over the ivories , nndiat the cloao they burst forth with np- plauso which made the dome of the opera houao echo and re-echo. Madame Carrono . ' rcspdndcd with a second end selection. Paw , if any , finer pianists have _ over appcaroc before an Omaha audience than IB Madame amo Carrcno. Her touch is grand. While she has the soft , pleasant touch of a lady , she also possesses the strong , powerful touch pf a gentleman. She executes cutes in a striking manner , her trills being very smooth and her wrist mont wondorful. The Philharmonic then Bang "God , Thou art Great. " Miaa Maul sang an obligate solo in a very ploaaing manner and crowned horaolf nnotv with lanrols. Mr. Estabrpok and Mr. Northrup sang duet in their usual good style , which was followed by a quartette by Miss Maul , Mrs. Estabrook and .Messrs Northrup and Ponncll , Madame Oarrono again appeared , giv ing two selections in a queenly manner. A solo by Mr. Bl&U < = Iy , "Tho Heart Bowed Down , " wits well received. A ohorud by the Philharmonic was fol lowed by Miss Howe with "Tho Daisy. ' She was recalled and sang a second selec tion. ; Mndamo Oarrono gave two selections in superb style to the great delight of the audionco. The concert closed with a quartette and chorus , " 0 Believe Mo. " The quartette - totto was composed of Miss Howe , Mrs- Jester , Miss Pennoll nnd Mr. Brockon ridge The choruses were directed by Mr. D. Blakoloytto whom grout credit is duo.
