The young man had not shown iyp Sunday , and the girl complained of being sick. She waa taken with apaama , and when Mra. Scott got there seemed to bo in a rory critical condition. Yester day another was added to the sad record , it boinn a young woman known as Mary Inez Stewart. She was living with her mother , on Washington nvonua near Madison street , and yesterday morning left homo , so her mother told the Bi'.r. man , to go up on the street on some or rand. On the way she mot an acquaintance anco , to whom she said aha Was going at tor notno medicine for her mother , and would stop to see her friend on her way back. She did not stop , however , but on her return homo laid down on the bod. She hod ] boon complaining early in the morn ing that she wai ill , and could oat no breakfast. Soon after she had laid down on the bed , aho was found to bo in great agony , and it waa then learned that she had takci poison. Dr. P.uiglo , Dr. Gordon and Dr. Studorly were called in ono after another , but it was too late for any medical asaiatanco , and the girl ROOI died. died.There There was no note loft to oiplain tin girl's motives , and na far us could b learned she did not communicate ho deadly intention to any ono. In he dying struggles she called for "Frank , and said she wanted to see him , and i was afterwards learned that this was young man with whom aho had hue keeping company. The poor mother was almost broken hearted , and it waa only between sob and hysterical gasps that she could giv any information about the affair. Sh said that her daughter was married abou four years ago to William Ciundortnai of Brownsville , Nob. Mrs. Christy ha never seen him , and did not know nine about him. Last fall her daughter cam homo , and aaid she was expecting ho husban'd in a month or BO , but lie novo came , and it Booms that they had som trouble or separation , although for time after the daughter's return ho wrol her very loving letters ; and in ono sai that when he came ho would buy her pony , because "aho had boon such a goo girl. " This husband never appoaro ( and the girl wont by her maiden mini and had little to say about him. Jl mother said ahe had boon talking to ho lately about the sort of company she wan keeping , as the girl had boon going a , good deal with a follow named Frank Stomlor , who had the reputation of being a gambler. The mother said the two rings , ono a diamond ring , which the girl had on , belonged to him. She had talked a to the girl about her behavior , but the girl replied that she wan not so bad as folks thought she was. The girl's father and mother scorn to have had difllculty too , and had sona- rated , the mother being hero and the father , John 0. Stewart , being now at Hayes City , Kansas. It appears also that the man whom the girl married several years ago hua left Brownavillo , Nob. , and now lives in Paola , Ka. Both wore informed by telegraph of the girls gad ending of her own life. The body was viewed by the jury , F. B. Patton , E. Sean and J. J. Hathaw.iy , and an inquest was hold yea - torday at 2 p , m. in Coroner Council's. B. it Q. 11. 11. was Hearing this place an air chamber of the air brake gearing of the train burst , which caused the train to come to a dead atop , and while in this fix the f Durth section of freight train No. 12 , which wai following close on to No. 0 , came up and was duly signaled and came to a stop when the fifth Rcction of No. 12 came in sight , but was too close to got the signal in time to stop , wont crashing through the caboose of fourth section of No. 12 , mashing it into kind ling wood , atld wrecking quite a number of freight cars in the forward train. En. gino No. 12 is a total wreck , ain the balance of fifth twelve's train. No lives were lost nor was anybody hurt very seriously. No. 2 mail and express was laid out so it did not roach this place at all ] aut night , but made her trip by going around the horn aa the boys say. Fourth twelve was heavily laden with grain and I understand that fifth twelve consisted of only an onuino and caboose , which wcro both demolished. The weather hoto to-day is very balmy and apring like , although there is quite a "skift" of snow on the ground from the effects of yesterday's storm. It seems that every other day wo hayo a alice of tlio North Polo switching around those "digKins" and then wo are greeted with a shimmer of a southern sun. In fact young and gentle spring and old and hoary winter seem to bo playing hidoand seek those days with a prosistonco of a pack of school children. I hope that fair and beautiful maiden will succeed in capturing the cold hearted rascal and banish him for good. The Central llouiio in this city has changed hands , L. P. Anderson retiring and S. French taking charge of the house. The Baptist , Methodist and Presby terian people have boon holding exten sive protracted meetings here the past winter and have made many converts to their respective faiths. Some few of our citizona don't take kindly to the turn the legislature has given to the whisky question. While a maj ority of our beat citizens are jubilant thereat , and as the law gives into effect on the fourth of July next you can look out for a big time on that day , for I predict that the whisky busi ness will wind up hero with a roaring big drunk , while the prohibitionists will hold u rousing ratification mooting. The sentence of Watson , the Shelly murderer , docs not fully satisfy a great many popple hero. They seem to think the verdict should have included a brief mention in regard to a hempen necktie , for hainging is really too good for such n cold-hearted wretch.
