THE OITY COUNCIL , Alderman Jntncfl Soils Another * to the City , The city clerk reported the receipts of his office for the month $2,341.50. The police committco reported against the city providing grounds for n city ho > pittil. The fire committco reported in fnvor of discharging the engineers of the two steamers and the appointment of Sam. Morrison as driver of the hook and ladder truck. Aldormans Keating recommended , that the old City building bo sold for § 350 instead of being torn down. Both reports - ports were concurred in. The fire committee and the mayor Were instructed to purchase a lot from Judge James on First avenue near Eighth street for a hose house. 1'rico 5000. The street committco was instructed to expend $200 in making Ninth' street pass able below the Hock Island track. The report of the appraisers , made nearly a year ago , recommending that $100 bo allowed Mrs. litiird for damage to lot on account of clmngo of grade ol street was concurred in. The council adjourned to next Monday evening. After the council adjourned it reas sembled as a beard of health and ceu- sured thA marshal for not having Pres- bytortan alloy cleaned out.
