Yoiterday the Platnor divorce case was hoard in the circuit court and a decree granted Mrs. PJatnor , the ground being neglect and cruelty on his park. Thuro is a great chance for improvement mont in the programmes furnished for the opera homo entertainments hero , Small type and poor printing makes the most of the trouble. Th stores to bo occupied by thorn have frontage of GO feet and a depth of 10 feet. Charles BI. Harlo , who U the republican ' " can nominee for city attorney , is co r. tainly a lelf-mado young man and ho ha not tha conceit possessed by some , and hence does not consider himself finished. The city need * a careful , painstaking attorney jutt now , and while Ilarle does not dash off his opinions on the spur BSOf the moment , ho is pretty sure ho is right fct before he goes ahead , and that has been i > great lok with some in the past. J. C. Bixby has secured the agency of the Beuner & Cole flro escape , This is the ono now in use in nearly all the principal buildings in Chicago , and which was recently ahovrn up so satisfactorily in Omaha. It consists of a stand-pipe with irott ladder and platform attached , and connections for hose on each , flour and on the noof , there being a Siamese for two lines of lioso for the ret floor , There &ro many building hpro nnd in Omaha which ought to be thus ptotocted , 1 an' ] as Mr. Bixby is prepared to make prle * within the reuoh of all ho should be interviewed by those interested , Of course the evening democratic pa per , , could not tell the truth , and wila Any poinl against Flickinger for nuyor , ad the only feeble twist which it can tUiu , far contrive is the statement thai Mr , F.lckiner , in accepting the nomina tion , rmid "tlmt ho should try , if elected , to fill the ofllco so as to bo of benefit to tlio republican party. " Flickinger did nay something of that nature , but the democratic organ does not give the rest of what Flickingor said. IIo said also that ho "should endeavor to not in the interests of allUruo friends of the city. " Now , if Bowman and his followers do not consider themselves true friends of the city , they may perhaps object , but it is n slim pretext for n flop about. Tlio democratic organ , in giving its glowing account of the many virtues of Poltibono , forgot to show up the way in which as a member of the board of elect * ion ho tried to lot coal contracts , It plso neglects to tell its readers how ho has tried to help along the morals of the city by barring mission Sunday schools out of the school houses. There are several ether matters in Pottibono's record which the democratic organ forgot to mention i but which the voters will remember. lie tiny bo a very nice old man , but has he shown himself the kind of a man to rep resent the people ?
