There was aiiolhor Blight reaction , but in the closing dealings tlio market was goneiiilly firm , nonio of the stocks soiling lip to the highest point of the day. Union Pacific was the great feature of speculation throughout the day , and thu transactions in those Blocks readied 71b'J4 out of a totil of 132,781 shares. This stock was the objective point of the be.'irn , and the short interest in it was again increased. It was freely taken during the afternoon by in side parties on information that the earnings of the year will show n surplus of § 1,200,000 over and aboxo the dividend , and probably more.
