Dry goods are active and firm , the prices having remained unchanged for the week past. Local trade las fallen off some , but to no great extent , anil vestcrn orders have increased enough to keep ho gales up to , if not above the average. The prospects for a good summer's business is good , hough , in some cases , considerable reductions will have to bo made In late spring and early summer goods , which retailers have held oil rom buyers , on account of the unseasonable weather , until prices will have to bo cut "way down" or the goods carried over. The grocery and provision market is unus ually active , this being one of the best seasons of the year for jobbers lit that line. Increased sales are reported from all sources with largo orders , often duplicated in a much shorter space of time than usual. Hardware dealers report a good week's busl ness , but with prices in some cases falling elf Barbed wire is lower but active , the orders beIng Ing numerous hut in most cases small. The general feeling is good. Nebraska orders are fair , and those from further west much larger and a greater confidence manifested by con sumer , The produce and general commission market is slightly demoralized on account of the non- arrival of consignments over railroads that have suffered from the flood * . Prices are higher and the demand is in excess of the sup ply. Collections in all branches are reported much better than m'ght ' bo expected , consid- sldering the dull months of spring and the continuous bad weather. To-ilny. Jobbers and commission merchants were busy to-day. Receipts were heavy , and ship ments , though not correspondingly good , were , in the main , satisfactory. Local transactions were unusually good , ami tha produce market , including fresh vegetable , fruitt , Qtc , was ac tive and almost everything Hold.
