of TUB BEE , and intending shortly to
make a personal canvass , I wish to ask
a few questions : When you go to
your merchant to purchase your gro
ceries , &o. , yon find him handling
foreign lard , &c. You see "Omaha"
hams , bicon , lard , &a. , also "Cedar
lUplds" and " Chicago" hams , lard ,
&o. , while you have at homo some oi
the boit packers of meat and manu
facturers of lard , such as the Orvls
packing company , T. Green & Sons. ,
J. S tonal , Swan & Sons and the num
erous moat markets , and who would ba
glad to furnish them with as good and
perhaps a bolter article ; bat the "for
eigner" sells at a lower price , and the
merchant buys of him for that reason
only , as ho can thus sell at a lower
price to hla customers , who prefer
buying the "foreign" article to the
homo on that account. I speak from
experience , having been salesman for
the Orvls Packing company previous
to becoming connected with TUB BKK
I hope , therefore , now to find
the same principle carried out
when I come to BOO yon In
regard to what our contemporaries
